Glenview Hotel

My husband and I stayed from 18-22 July for our wedding anniversary. The hotel with its beautiful gardens has a panoramic view over the Glen of the Downs and we were very fortunate with brilliant weather. Our room was excellent, cleaned and fresh towels etc every day. We had meals in both the woodland restaurant and conservatory bistro and enjoyed the delicious food but the main feature of this hotel are the members of staff. Every member of staff where efficient pleasant and nothing seamed too much bother for them. Such a change from the majority of hotels!! Thank you for making our visit so relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay with you. We have availed of the Red Hot Summer Deals twice already this Summer and hopefully will get to stay once more before September. Your hotel caters for all our needs. We have two very small children so it is fantastic to have access to the pool and beautiful gardens and the hotel is just a short drive to the beach. The staff are very friendly and helpful and you really do welcome families.

We stayed one night at this particular Hotel.(Sunday 28.07.2013) We had bed and breakfast and an evening meal at their woodlands restaurant which is supposed to be great for its food. We booked for 6pm and were the first to arrive. The starter my wife had was soup which unfortunately was pickled with salt. The drinking water that was put on the table was luke warm (no ice). We had to wait an hour for our main course to arrive and it arrived stone cold. I had ordered rack of lamb and veg. The rack consisted of two small chops. The veg was carrots and roast pototoes which were not only cold
but very tired looking and greasy. My wife had some sort of baked chicken which was horrible and again cold. We immediately complained to the head waiter who offered to change the dishes which he did. I stuck with the rack of lamb and my wife had salmon. 20 minutes later, the new dishes arrived hot but the veg was no better. After ordering dessert, we had to wait another 30 minutes before it arrived.(all I was having was ice cream). We left the restaurant at 8.15pm (2 hours and 15 minutes after we arrived). The service and food was very disappointing but having said that we had stayed in the Hotel about one year previously and the food was excellent. It would appear that its really gone down hill. When we were leaving the
next morning, the receptionist informed us that the Head Chef had been on his day off the previous night. Its possible that we were just unlucky !!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the valley - very nice

Stayed there for a week with my wife.
Rented the Penthouse, great room with loads of space and comfort.
Really smooth from check in to check out.
Really friendly staff. Bartenders are great as is the restaurant staff.

Alena was really helpful, from looking after us to giving directions.
Excellent food in both restaurants, parking and beautiful grounds to walk around.
Really convenient place just 20 minutes south of Dublin. Close enough to go to town. But far enough away from the busy city.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Glenview, and next time we visit Ireland, we will be staying here again.

Thanks again for everything Alena.

Stayed here the end of May and had a fabulous break. Garden was great for my little girl. Staff could not have been nicer. Going back end of August hopefully. Can't understand any of the bad reviews this hotel has received from others. The restaurant was excellent. If I was to fault anything, and I would be nit picking, I had a scallop starter, which was delicious, but only one little scallop. As I said tiny little critique. Loved it, highly recommend.

Had our wedding here in June this year, and it was fantastic. We got great support with the preparations running up to it from Lisa and then Damien who took over a couple of months before. Very helpful and open to requests, always comfortably addressing any concerns or worries in a relaxed manner, and helped put our mind at ease, especially when there was the changeover of wedding co-ordinator. It was a great package with lots included in it, we didn't need to add anything really.
The day itself was amazing. Thanks to Damien on the leadup to the day, and Sabine who managed the day itself for us, and all the wonderful staff there. The food was great, thanks to Chef Sandeep, all the guests seemed to be very happy with their meals, and staff came around with seconds for anyone who wanted it. Then we partied into the night.
The flowers at the hotel included in the package were done by Shadeans Flowers and we were very happy with these, they were just beautiful.
We were very lucky to have had a really sunny day and so we were able to use their beautiful gardens for our arrival reception. We couldn't believe our luck. This really made the day. The gardens here are very beautiful and at this time of year they are full of colour aswell. Our guests really seemed to enjoy this part of the day too.
The bridal suite is amazing, it's really more an apartment. If you are concidering having your wedding here you should definitely ask to see it, as it may well be the deciding feature for you. It's very large with a large sitting room area and a dinning room area off that, large bathroom with large bath and large shower, extra separate small wc, a hall area with dressing room/wardrobe, and a beautiful bedroom with dual aspect views. We just wish we could have stayed there a bit longer.
We got good reviews from our guests who stayed there that night. The breakfast room/restaurant is a fabulous room with beautiful panoramic views over the Glen of the Downs, the sunny day definitely helped. It is a lovely bright room. The breakfast was also very good, with lots of choice.
This is also a hotel that we like to visit for just drinks, coffee, lunch or dinner. And I have to say that on these occasions also the staff are very friendly and helpful, but this is for a separate review ;-)
I would just have few suggestions to make, the website needs to be amended it's not very user friendly and can be difficult to use, for example to read some of the text a window will open but then close on you. A few from our wedding party mentioned this to us aswell so its not just me. And I think the toilets on the ground floor nearest the reception area need to be updated a bit, the ones further down the hall are much better.
Also we received complimentary membership of the leisure centre when we booked our wedding there, which we were thrilled with, as its a beautiful pool and there's an outdoor hot tub, but unfortunately as we both work normal office hours we found that any time we tried to use the place during those 6 months it was too full. I went a bit, but was only ever able to use the pool, after trying a few times to get into the gym, and giving up and driving away without getting to use it, I stopped going.

Thank you to Damien, Sabine, Sandeep and the wonderful team at the Glenview for helping to make our day so great.

Room Tip: We had the bridal suite as it was for our wedding, it is an amazing room. Two of their executive sui...
