“Outstanding place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

We loved our stay at Rathsallagh, thank you to the trip advisor reviewers! Be aware that it is pretty remote and the town closest is tiny so plan to eat at the restaurant, you won't be sorry! We drove our car back to the area where we were staying and the owner arrived to help us with our luggage. Our room and bathroom were large and the bed was very comfortable. The grounds and garden were perfectly manicured and we enjoyed our stroll and relaxing in the sun for a while. All in all a wonderful place to stay and I would love to go back again!

Thank you for a lovely review, we love to have visitors from the States and it was a great pleasure having you all. Its been a bit of a wet summer , however as you found our 500 acres of grounds are holding up well. We hope you can come and stay with us for a little longer next tip, thank you for visiting Ireland and Rathsallagh.

We arrived here for one night in order that we could go racing at Naas with friends. The drive to the hotel sets the scene as it is through the golf course but the overall feel is of arriving at a large private house. Reception was staffed by an extremely personable but informal lady who showed us around as if we were guests of the family. Our room (with a door to the courtyard) was enormous, well appointed with a beautiful bathroom with clear glass at the window (hurrah) doggy wallpaper (depicting dogs) and a huge walk in shower as well as a lrge bath. We adjourned for lunch to the cosy bar and could have never left! Unfortunately we were dining in Kildare with our friends so could not eat however the Dining room kindly accommodated our request for a late breakfast after an early morning trip to the Curragh to watch our friends horses work. Can't wait to go back and absolutely loved the place, atmosphere, bar and food

Room Tip: WE only saw one room but the ground floor rooms seemed excellent

We love to see guests come and stay for racing at our local courses, The Curragh ( home of the Irish Derby ) , Naas and Punchestown, and we hope you had great luck at the track. Got to stay here for one night for a friends wedding. The grounds themselves looked lovely but we didnt get the chance to have a wander around. The arrival at the house works like a very well oiled machine, those staying the night directed to their car park where someone meets you at your car and carries your bag to the lobby area and you are handed over to someone from housekeeping to show you to your room.. Rooms are big and spacious and all have individual names, we stayed in the Lucy room. I should also mention the big clean bathroom with double sinks and big bath and huge shower. It is probably a bit expensive for most people (190 for one night b&b) but the bed is so comfortable and the atmosphere is very relaxed there.

The food in Rathsallagh was among the best I have eaten at a wedding and i couldnt fault the breakfast the next day. The only down point for us was a fire alarm being set off at 5am 3 times, it was explained by the receptionist as someone probably smoking in their room, definitely not Rathsallagh houses fault but it left us a bit sleepy and cranky. Look forward to having the chance to come back in the future.

Thank you for a great review, and apologies over that fire alarm. Somebody smoking in the bed rooms after lights out !!. All our bed rooms at Rathsallagh are strictly non smoking and our some detectors are extremely sensitive because of that unfortunately. However what a great wedding it was, we really enjoyed having you all stay with us. Thanks a again for taking the time to write

Was at this hotel for a wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. The staff were so friendly and helpful the food was top notch and the bedroom was huge!!! I'd love to go here for a romantic weekend, it was just perfect. Really captures the country home feeling. The bedrooms all had different themes, and the bathroom was huge. Had his and hers sinks in the bathroom, the shower was so hot and powerful, didn't want to get out of it!! Would definitely recommend this venue.

Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review. Every room at Rathsallagh is individually named and decorated ( no numbers here ! ) , also the bathrooms are bigger than one would normally find in a hotel. Most of our bath tubs are built for two as well. !. Our next weekend availability is the 2nd and 3rd November, please do come and stay with us for that romantic break away. Thanks again for a lovely review

Swanky hotels are not my normal style of holiday. I have often found excessively deferential service to be excruciating and insincere. However my Sunday Lunch and Lazy Sunday overnight was a real treat. The settings and rooms are beautiful, the food was delicious but the best part was the quality of service. The staff were absolutely lovely, individual and human. Service did not feel like a mechanical formula. Having worked in retail for 20 years, maybe I am wary of the customers who transfer their personal issues onto the nearest "minion". I was glad to be asked if I had been served my coffee more than once! This Hotel and the Staff are a credit to the Management. Thank you all.

From the moment we climbed out of the car to be greeted by the owner and shown to our spacious family room to being waved off by staff on our departure the whole experience was a delight. The hotel has oodles of olde worlde charm and the setting is beautiful. The only gripe we had was the breakfast was quite disorganized.

Thank you for your fabulous review and it was a pleasure to meet you all on arrival here. I apologize for the disorganization at breakfast, as you probably had seen we got a bit overwhelmed when nearly all the guests came down for breakfast at around the same time, we should have been ready I know but we will learn from that. Thank you again for a lovely review.

Stayed here in May with two girlfriends-
Pong in bedroom -won't describe it as I might be accused of ageisim (Subsequently spoke to my brother about his
golfing weekend last year -on arrival when door was opened he got an overpowering smell of foot odour from his bedroom). My opinion is that when you are on a trip with friends you tend to "suck up" negative notions -no one wants to be a whiner and spoil the party.Jacuzzi had to be pre-booked.Meal was served on cold plates and really not good -I toyed with the idea of sending main course back ( -but couldn't be bothered as apart from being cold all tasted totally bland)Wow thats some achievement -i've never tasted bland mussles as a starter prior to this meal.
HA then repaired to the DRAWING ROOM- a misnomer if ever I heard one.The only similarity between this room and a DRAWING ROOM is.....oh there isn't any..my error !.
Breakfast ... a tortured poached egg...BUT gorgeous setting for a brisk walk before setting off for a really good lunch in the Ballymore Inn.-----

The great thing about Rathsallagh is that because we are so small we can easily identify all past guests. There were three of you in the room , and one of your friends brought along her small dog ( we are pet friendly ) your reluctance to point fingers at the time then was understandable.. You need to book the Jacuzzi room as its available for private use, however if you like to share with strangers I am sure we could oblige. A drawing room is a room in a house where visitors may be entertained. The name is derived from the sixteenth-century terms withdrawing room and withdrawing chamber, we are sorry if you expected easels and a nude. As for the eggs, they are free range from our own hens fresh into the kitchen every morning, but then not every one can tell the difference. And yes the Ballymore Inn is indeed superb, we would highly recommend it. What an extraordinary almost entertaining review.
