Great food and excellent service
One of the best sunday lunches we have had out in a while. The garden is well worth a visit. Vegetables grown in the garden are used in the kitchen.

My wife and I spent a night at Marlfield house and it is probably the best hotel stay we have ever had. The Welcome was excellent, great room, lovely garden and fantastic meals. Staff were all excellent especially 'Jack' - thank you

We had a glorious drive to Gorey from Dublin. On arrival we were given our menus in the elegant Library bar. The menu did not disappoint, we had a tough time deciding what to try because of the fabulous variety. Our choices were taken while we enjoyed our aperitifs. We were then shown into the beautiful diningroom in the glass conservatory. Our table had a view of the manicured garden. We were served a tasty Amuse-bouche of herbed lamb followed by our starters of Quail and a trio of Irish fish. Our main course of Turbot and barley with butternut puree was served with a crisp chilled Chablis. Our desserts - frangipan chocolate tart with pistachio ice-cream and a cheese plate. Good hot Americano coffee and chocolate truffles. The service was superb and the attention to detail special. This was a memorable meal in all respects. You do need to book!

The food in Marlfield has to be up there with the other 5 star country houses/small hotels. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. The bedrooms are really comfortable. Please note the higher up you go in the house the smaller (lower floor to ceiling heights) the rooms, so try and stay on the ground or first floor.
Its a charming place to stay and would highly recommend it.

The peacock calling first thing in the morning is not ideal after a late night!!

We are one of the 'regulars' that people mention in reviews, particularly for the 'library lunch'. We are always treated with the greatest care and respect. The food is always delicious, and I think spectacularly good value for the standard and quality [around €22 for two courses] including home cured salmon, fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs from the garden [plus abundant flowers everywhere]. The staff are always so friendly and ready to act immediately when requested. Yes, sometimes the service is a little slow, but perhaps that is the price for food cooked to order, and Marlfield is a place that really invites you to have a long, leisurely visit, without feeling you have to move on [as in so many places]. Everything about Marlfield we find to be gracious and relaxing, and stunningly beautiful. We love the old furnishings and original paintings, and have a special love for the reproduction doll's house, with all it's tiny people and furniture. We take our grandchildren there often, and again, are made so welcome, with child sized portions on offer [plus special requests].

We enjoyed a beautiful lunch on Mothers Day, and each Mum was given a wooden container of garden bulbs as a gift, which I thought was so imaginative.

We consider ourselves just so lucky to have a venue such as Marlfield on our doorstep.
