Food was marvellous, it was all cooked to absolute perfection although the restaurant was quite busy. Rib-eye beef was melt in the mouth. Warm Chocolate fondant was divine. Highest compliments to the chef.

Service, ambience and décor were all good. Worth every cent! Looking forward to going back again.

Eaten here twice over the summer - one Sunday evening dinner - one Saturday afternoon lunch. The words "not that fussed on the place" come to mind. It's a nice leafy drive in and beautiful house, but I think it was closed for a period of time owing to recession and you can really tell. It has a "has been" kind of feel to it. On the first occasion, our food was nothing special and not generous - but still pricey. We returned because we were in the area and my boyfriend had grown up with the idea that it was a great place. That time, he had to send his steak sandwich back as it was cold and had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for some time. My salad was uninspired. Staff there were apologetic and personable which is always a bonus and not something you can buy. They seem to have good winter deals on at the moment which would increase traffic and perhaps get things a little more up to par. Place just seems tired, old and cold - it just needs a little pride back - sorry this review won't help!

On arrival in mid afternoon on Sat 27th. October, both sets of doors were closed with no sign that the restaurant was open for business. Directions were sought from a person in the car park who advised that bar food was available. On entering, it was necessary to seek directions to the bar.

Soup and sandwiches were ordered. When the soup was served, the spoon in the place setting was a desert spoon. By the time the soup spoon was delivered, the soup was barely warm. The French waiter's clothes were not the cleanest.

The decor was exquisite

was really looking forward to staying her over night for a wedding party,Have to say the rooms bedrooms are beautiful and spotless very dissapointed that there were no coffee making facility in room.
It was a beautiful day so was amazing to sit out in the beautiful gardens,we were served canopies what can i say only they were ok.,You also need to have a big wallet as a mineral is 3 EURO!!!!
and not even served with a smile, at one stage of the evening I asked had they not got a measure for pouring wine as what he gave me was a half a measure of a very small glass he snapped that i got more than a measure and he could pour some out!!
At another point a member of our group ordered a whiskey with ginger ale this was serves in a half pint glass wouldnt have expected this at al
now to dinner overall the service was poor and was so dissapointed in the food so so bland, onion tart as a starter was ok, leek and potato soup could only be described as a bowl of green water and main of chicken breast as I heard someolse say a boiled breast of chicken with a squirt of sauce there was that little sauce and so thin it didnt taste of anything and veg a little spinach and id say a thimble of hard carrots.
I would hate to think what was being charged for this food but all i can say not worth any amount of money.
Breakfast in the morning well the buffet fruit trolly was fab but breakfast itself was served very slowely and with a very bad attitude staff really need to be trained how to deal with the public.
would not be rushing back to this very over priced place..

What can one say about Marlfield, great ambience but shame about the attitude of the management. Food not so great on our last visit and our friend fell on the outside step and when she told them about it, they said it was her fault, that there was a light but it was not on. She was only saying it to be helpful and possibly preventing a legal outcome by another guest. Our third time to be there and we wondered why we went. Their champagne is lovely and it is wonderful sitting in the drawingroom before dinner. Such a pity!
