“Awful”

Considering you had to pay to get in Id advise you not. This place could be great but in fact is a terrible advertisement for Irish tourism.
We arrived at 3.00 pm four days ago on a Monday and made straight for the restaurant. The smell of the toilets met us. Because we had children I had to visit the loo. Filthy. My child would not use the toilet. I complained at Information and was told ' oh sorry, they always get dirty by this time'. Well do you know what? If you pay 8 euro in you are at LEAST entitled to clean facilities. If you know something is going to be dirty by 3 o'clock then you clean it before then. A total disgrace.
The food was boring and substandard, the furnishings cheap, staff inexperienced and tables dirty.
Overall a really sad and unprofessional operation. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful grounds, courtyard and house - it's trying to be everything and is doing nothing well. Decide on what you want to excell at and do it. The current set up is dreadful.

Reviewed July 11, 2014

Unfortunately the day we went there wasn't a whole lot we could do in Wells as it was wet and mucky in the woods and rained most of the day. Hi GoreyDad

Thank you for reviewing your trip to Wells House! We re sorry to hear the rain impacted your visit so much but were able to enjoy your visit to the Craft Courtyard. I am disappointed to read the food you received was cold, I hope you brought this to the attention of the staff and the issue was resolved on the day.

“What a great little find”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

We were in Kilmuckridge for a weekend and happened upon Wells house. Although we didn't do the tour of the house there is a gorgeous little coffee shop for lunch, and there was a great playground, animal shelter, fairy walk in a forest and craft courtyard. There really was something for everyone in the family. We paid only €8 per car for the entrance (which you pay on the way out) and it was a bargain. There was also a military display on when we were there and they seem to have lots of different events on throughout the year. Well worth a visit : )

“Great day out for all the family”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

We visited Wells House for the first time yesterday and had a really enjoyable experience. It is superbly well run by the family and there is something for every age group. We particularly enjoyed our tour of the house with the best tour guide Claire we have ever experienced over many years of visiting historic houses. Also, work on the house seems to be progressing very well. The courtyard of shops is well worth a visit as is the animal farm run by a dedicated group of animal lovers. There is a great playground for children, picnic area, walks and a good café aswell. We look forward to returning in a few months time! Excellent value for €8 per car!

“Very Enjoyable Day Out”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

This was our second time here and we really enjoyed it again. We brought two young children who cannot wait to return. There's plenty to do - playground, forest walk, archery, animal farm etc You can also bring your own picnic which makes it an inexpensive day out.
