“Amazing!!!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

I recently visited The Pig's Tale with some friends for my birthday and had such a lovely evening. The food was perfect....we cleared the plates! I definitely recommend everyone try the garlic and herb sausages and creamy mash at least once. And leave enough room to squeeze in some gorgeous sticky toffee pudding! We'll be back very soon without a doubt.

“We will not be rushing back.”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Visited the Pigs Tail in Gorey to celebrate a birthday. I had been there once before and was not overly impressed on this visit. Idecided to give it another try in December in the hope it would be a better experience. It was far from being any better this time, in fact I found it to be so disappointing I will not be back. The night in question was not a busy night, the waitress was very attentive and explained the specials of the night. She took our order without any delay and was very pleasant.
We were a group of 4. I had a Seafood pasta dish in cream sauce. The sauce tasted great, I could only find 4 pieces of fish in the dish, 3 of them being mussles. I was disappoined as this is a dish I have often had in other restaurants and always has a mixture of different seafood and is always a wonderful dish to enjoy. My son orderd plaice with chips. He got 2 of the smallest pieces of plaice Ihave ever seen and a stack of 5 undercooked chips. The other 2 in our group had steaks one medium rare, and 1 medium to well done. Both steaks were over cooked and served with mushy onions, 2 mushrooms and under cooked potatoes. We opted not to have deserts as the main courses were so bad. We had coffees and 1glass of house white. The bill came to over 100euro which I dont mind paying for a special occasion for good food. I object to paying that sort of money for 4 miserable meals. SUCH BAD VALUE. My son suggested on the way home that we go to the local takeaway and get him some fish and chips. Maybe thats what we should have done in the first place, it would have been better value, and have fish in the fish dishes. I will never be in The Pigs Tail again. They need to get their act together and not be so miserable with their fish, and also learn how to cook a steak to order.

Dear Tazelmo,

As owner of the restaurant it is very disappointing to hear that you did not have an enjoyable experience at The Pigs Tale.
We always make a point of checking on our tables during the meal to ensure everything is to the customers satisfaction, Why is it that nothing was made aware to your server or the manager to rectify the situation.
I also feel the review is a little strange, We do not serve our steaks with potato, mushrooms or onions, but instead it comes with hand cut chips & roast butternut squash. Also the seafood trio comes as standard with mussels, prawns and fish of the day as per the menu.
I would also make the point that, having added up what was ordered by the table it does not come to over 100E as stated.

We always welcome feedback from our customers, both positive & constructive during your visit at the restaurant. We feel it is the customers responsibility to tell us at the time of any grievances they may have & give us the chance to rectify it.

Thank You,
The Management of The Pigs Tale

“Fantastic yet again!”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We have had the pleasure of visiting The Pigs Tale for both lunch and dinner & each time it only gets better & better. Our most recent visit, Fri 7th of Dec.
Welcomed always with a friendly face we are seated & presented with the evening specials board full of tasty treats. To start we had the mussels in garlic bacon & tomato basil sauce which came with a toasted ciabatta & the homemade black pudding bruschetta both totally amazing full of flavour. While waiting on our mains the head chef so generously sent down some of the pigs tale home cured meats, ciabatta & sundried tomato pesto dip for us to try out. YUM.
For mains we had the lamb shank in a tomato chorizo lentil cassolet..(OMG bursting with flavour i left nothing) & a chicken supreme with creamy mash & veg. Too full for dessert yet had to have.. we shared a homemade chocolate brownie with icecream, Tea/Coffee. The restaurant had a delightlful ambiance. The staff are so lovely, service was brill. Great food & Great value. I would highly recommend The Pigs Tale & I will defo be back soon.

“disappointing”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Visited this restaurant last week as a party of 4 , reviews were excellent so we were looking forward to some culinary delights!. Decor is contemporary and the restaurant is spotless. Our waiter was unconcerned and appeared to have little interest in his work. Drinks arrived without a word and we waited in anticipation for our starters. The goats cheese itself was ok but was ruined by the salad dressing which had way too much vinegar, there was no taste of walnut and honey! The Chicken Caesar was delightful while the Bruschetta with black pudding had no black pudding so it had to go back to the kitchen to be replated !
Mains of Pork Belly, Burgers and Roast chicken followed all presented on cold plates which meant the food went cold quickly. The lads were very happy with the burgers but raised their eyebrows at the stacked 5 chips! The pork belly was delicious and very flavoursome but poorly presented on the plate. I had the roast chicken , very tasty but a small portion with just green beans and mashed potatoes. This restaurant has huge potential but on this particular night we were very disappointed and it certainly did not provide the meal experience or value for money.

Dear Seomra,

It is disappointing to learn that you did not have as an enjoyable experience at The Pigs Tale as so many others have.

Our floor staff take pride in their work, and replaced the bruchetta quickly after the mistake was spotted, with a sincere apology. A small error by the kitchen, as we have two different bruchatta on the menu.

The chicken is not roast chicken but rather a chargrilled chicken supreme, accompanied with green beans, black pudding mash & homemade gravy and comes as described on the menu.
Otherwise im glad to hear that the main courses of pork belly, burgers & chicken were enjoyed by the table.
We hope to see you again at the restaurant, where we look forward to giving you a great dining experience.

Thank you,
The Management of The Pigs Tale
