Wonderful scenic area with splendid views of Donegal Bay, and with the backdrop of Benbulben mountain in Co. Sligo. (by the way On the N15 ; Sligo - Bundoran road try and visit the little known Streegagh strand near the village of Grange which was a site of a shipwreck of the famous Spanish Armada which was fleeing back to Spain after an unsuccessful encounter with the English Navy). As you approach Mullaghmore itself, take the lovely coastal drive route (clockwise) which will wind back to the tiny village / Harbour of Mullaghmore with its family friendly beach. The Beach is ideal for walking and provides safe bathing. Kids will love the sand dunes.

A lovely wee beach at Mullaghmore. Parking was fine for May but I imagine it would be difficult to get parked mid summer. Sands are lovely and soft. There is a pretty harbour, which is spoilt somewhat by a sludge buildup in one corner- yuk! Castle in the background looks lovely.

A massive sandy bay to stroll on, with views onto Mullaghmore bay. A great place to visit. Plenty of car parking adjacent to the beach and a few hostelries for a pint after your walk.

I have just visited Mullaghmore in County Sligo. It is absolutely beautiful on a sunny day like today.
There is the sea, the harbour, the beach, the mountains and fantastic views looking right across to Killybegs and further in Donegal. Classiebawn Castle stands like a sentinel on a hill overlooking the bay.
The place is truly beautiful. The quaint Pier Head Hotel is a good place for a snack. If you are traveling from Sligo to Donegal make a detour at Cliffony. You will not be disappointed. I promise!

Amazing beach to walk on, and also around the Head where fantastic rock formations pave the way towards the Stunning Classiebawn Castle set against the backdrop of Ben Bulben. This is a Magical place
