We were here for a family occasion, and the restaurant staff couldn't have done more for us during our celebratory dinner. The rooms were clean and functional, had all that I needed. Breakfast did seem a bit of a free for all, though I think this was more to do with the fact it was booked out - there was a Fèis on, so lots of little people running around until the late hours - not the fault of the hotel, I should add. The weather was atrocious, so couldn't get exploring the grounds. All in all, would recommend it.

We arrived a little early and there was a room available even though the hotel was fully booked the night before. The room was very clean and nice. We didn't see too much of the room because we were at a wedding. All the staff were very nice. Would defo stay here again if I was passing as it would be a good location for a base to explore.

We were on the ground floor to the back of the hotel. I would think the views from the front and the top floor would have been far superior.

We originally booked a standard room but then decided to pay for the upgrade to the Coney Island Room.

It's certainly bright and with a panoramic view...and also has a balcony running the entire length of the front of the room.

The decor in the room was really not at all to our taste however; tacky prints of Paris street scenes are just jarring when you've a panoramic view of county Sligo when you turn your head 90 degrees! I'd change all the shiny soft furnishings for something that doesn't clash with the view outside the window. We did appreciate the brightness and airiness of the room, but they really need to rethink the decor.

The bar area was pretty loud and lively, and though the entertainment wasn't our kind of thing, at least there was a bit of life about the place.

We ate in the restaurant on one night and really enjoyed it - much better than I expected. First time having red snapper; very nice.

It's a great base for drivers to explore the local countryside and coastline and, at least when we stayed (low season), it was very good value.

The decor of the Coney Island Room aside, we really enjoyed our two night stay.

We went to this hotel for a 2 day break to get away from it all. Reception was clean and modern and the staff very efficient and friendly. We had a room to the front of the hotel with a nice view. The room was a little small, but adequate for our needs. The swimming pool and spa are excellent and again the staff very friendly. The crowning glory of this hotel is the food in the restaurant. The Chef is excellent and the quality of the food superb. The meal on our first night was supplemented by a voucher deal we got, but it was so good we went to the resaurant the next night again and had no qualms in paying the full price. Highly recommended! The breakfast both mornings was also of good standard. If I was in the Sligo area again I would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel.

Stayed with a hen party and the hotel itself is a modern property, spotlessly clean with friendly staff (especially the receptionist with long hair and glasses) and in a beautiful setting. A spot I would definitely return to as an accommodation base, however, I would travel not be in a hurry back to the restaurant. With a little attention to the restaurant this hotel would have received 5 stars. I took two stars off as the meal for a Hen Party is a main focus of the night. The waiting staff were lovely and attentive however the portions throughout the meal were extremely small with the veg portions even smaller. But, dessert was a disaster when the waiters cleared the plates. What chef in his right mind sees it ok to serve a dessert with a scoop of ice cream and cream on a slate to a warm dining room. Of course the ice cream and cream melted and when the slates were lifted there was one poor hen covered in drips. Thankfully I was at the loo because when I can back my chair was being wiped by the girl sitting beside me so I didn't sit in the puddle of melted ice cream.
Did we get smaller portions as we were a group and on a rate with a smaller dinner allocation built into the package? The price was excellent but I would rather have paid a few more euro and have been fed.

Room Tip: don't be to hungry heading for the restaurant

All of the staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful. The room was modern, up to date and had all the facilities we needed. The food for breakfast was well above average. The bar food was excellent and reasonable as were the cocktail prices! The spa although smaller than the Radisson in Cavan was lovely. The treatment I had was out of this world with the therapist Karen. The pool area was great and clean. The location was great - just a short distance in the car from the beach. We were on a special offer and we were treated no differently than other guests unlike in some hotels.

Now the cons: As said in precious reviews, the beds are atrocious. Both my husband and I came away with back and shoulder ache and very little sleep. These need to be sorted. A light bulb needed to be changed in the bathroom and wasn't which blinked the entire time. Babies in other rooms cried most of the night - I do think that families should be accommodated away from couples/older people, it just isn't want I wanted to hear on a romantic night away from my own two screamers! The meal served in the dining room for dinner was a joke...if staff had taken the time to look at diners faces as their main courses were put on their table it would make them realize the ridiculous small portions being given. We asked for an extra helping of potatoes and veg (as did practically every table!) but our waiter never came back. This was probably the most annoying thing to happen. We weren't full having eaten our meal and it was very poor of the waiter to 'forget" to come back. I would have complained only that I was so happy with everything else about the hotel. That being said we will definitely come back for a stay again. We will just eat in the bar next time! Just another tip, to use the thermal suite, you seem to have to have a treatment in the spa. These rooms are available to all users in the Redisson in Cavan, even if you are not having a treatment.

Won a night here in a Local Charity Raffle, and am pleasantly surprised in the Standards of Service, Drinks and Food! From Check in, Very Good, through to Rooms which are of a High Standard, through to Top Class Fare in the Hotel Restaurant, could not fault Nothing. Did not have time to try the Spa Facilities but imagine standards remain high there too. Sligo has loads to offer, and I will be recommending this hotel to family and friends home for occasions etc. Top Drawer!
