Stayed at the end of November and had the most amazing experience. The staff were welcoming and firendly and were made to feel at home. The room was beautiful but quirky. Comfortable bed and slept like a dream.

Made the mistake of not exploring the castle properly, therefore missed some of the other lounge areas and bar in the castle, only discovering them in the morning. Although thats good reason for us to return.

breakfast was delicious and well presented in lovely dining room. Have already booked our return. This time, will arrive early to make the most of our visit

We stayed at Castle Leslie on 16-18 January 2014. We hadn't managed to get in to the Castle and so had set our expectations somewhat lower as we were staying at the Lodge, on the grounds of the Estate. Often these types of accommodation are a very poor relation to the main attraction, e.g. at Ghan House in Co. Lough. However, the Lodge at Castle Leslie is beautifully designed, spacious, and full of atmosphere. It also overlooks the substantial equestrian centre.
We ate in the village on the first evening, at the quirky little pizza restaurant, housed in a very old building, just around the corner from the Estate. We then went on for a night cap to a quirky little pub that, oddly enough, seemed to attract older bikers.
We visited the Castle for a drink the following evening. The place was so warm it was almost overwhelming - I'd hate to see the bill - but the smell from the turf fires was great and made the place feel very homely. Dinner was great at the main restaurant, which is located at the Lodge. We were then entertained to Moonlight Sonata, played on the grand piano by Sir John Leslie who is 97 years of age!
Throughout our stay the service was excellent: warm, friendly but very professional. I forgot to take the charger for my iPhone 5 phone when I was leaving. The hotel posted it on to me without a quibble.
We intend to go back but will again go for a low season date. It gets really busy there in summer.

Stayed here recently on one of the hotel's special offer deals for a 2 night stay.

The first thing you notice is the friendliness of the staff, they are all very polite and chatty. They also encourage you to explore the estate and the castle itself and make yourself at home, which is nice.
Sometimes you visit places like this and you are made to feel like you are intruding, with certain rooms sealed off with red velvet ropes. It is the opposite here, you are encouraged to explore the castle and spend time in the various drawing rooms and libraries, having a drink or cup of tea brought to you by the friendly staff, it's great.
The hotel is divided into the lodge and the castle itself, they are a couple of hundred yards apart and there is a courtesy minibus to transfer you if it is raining.

We stayed in the lodge which is recently refurbished and is very nice. We were given a free upgrade to a superior room and it was great, the bathroom especially was very grand and nicely decorated.

The bar was very welcoming and it's great to see that they serve their own specially brewed lager from scotland with a slight heather taste, lovely.

Our stay included a meal in the restaurant and this was delicious, 6 courses of perfectly cooked food.
The breakfasts were also superb, freshly cooked to order which is always nicer than the buffet-style breakfasts of many hotels. There was a good choice of cooked breakfasts as well as a delicious selection of fruit salads, cereals, cinnamon-infused pears etc etc, all delicious.

Overall i'd highly recommend this hotel for a quiet, relaxing stay with great food and drink and very friendly service

My wife and I stayed in the
Castle to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a lovely stay in the Castle including a meal in Snaffles restaurant.
Note to 1st timers: if you stay in the Castle the restaurant is a short walk or their courtesy vehicle can take you there. Also not all rooms in the Castle have shower facilities. You have 2 options for stay - in the Castle (accommodation - bar - breakfast) or in the Lodge (restaurant/Bar/Spa & stables). The Lodge has all the facilities that you would expect. The Castle is truly worth the experience. We will stay again

We booked into The Castle itself which is different and separate from the Lodge.
The Castle is old world and the rooms are named and themed. Each room has a bath generally in the room and some have no shower facilities. Ask if you want one. They are quirky but we loved them. No TVs in the Castle, no tea making facilities but a real treat if you want something really different.
You eat breakfast at the castle but there is no restaurant in it and you have to either drive ( 2 mins) walk (7mins) or there is car which will shuttle you. You can get tea, coffee and there is a bar.
Breakfast was a delight. No buffet with eggs and bacon sitting for hours. Everything was freshly made, try the Eggs Benedict and / or the pancakes. Fresh orange juice and a wonderful selection of breads, fruit and much more. We sat and chatted until 10.45 each day.
Staff are really friendly and helpful, nothing is to much trouble. To add to the quirkiness Sir John, Baron Leslie, who looks about 90, shuffles in for breakfast in his pyjamas and dressing gown! He greets people and shows up at night in the Lodge for his dinner.
The Lodge is also really nice, we had lunch and evening meal there. Lunch was great but our evening meal was exceptional. It is an award winning restaurant and could be Michelin standard. We have eaten in many great restaurants, Gordon Ramsey, Rick Stein etc and this was every bit as good. Beautifully presented, usual Michelin touches, pre starter, sorbet or little soup cup between courses. The price was very reasonable for this wonderful meal.
No swimming pool or Gym but who needs it when you have 1000 acres to explore. If you want an ordinary spa type hotel don't come here but if you want a wonderful relaxing stay in a castle with beautiful sitting rooms and view onto the Lake come here.
You can shoot, fish, ride and other outdoor sports.
You are 20 mins from Monaghan and an hour and a half from Belfast.
We shall be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a shower if you really want one.
