“A Grand Stay In an Elegant and Historic Home”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

It is not often you get the chance to stay in a venue in which all of the history and memorabilia remains in the home. Staying at Castle Leslie feels like you have just wandered into the home of the Leslie family. it is grand building and the walls and rooms have remained much as they were throughout much of the last century. And to enhance the experience still further you are often joined at breakfast and indeed throughout the day by Jack Leslie who, while now in his nineties, provided an amazingly lucid and entertaining tour of the Castle. If you get the chance please do try and meet Jack - he is living history and the Leslie family's connections to the Churchills places them right at the heart of the political establishment.
For those who seek all mod cons in their accommodation Castle Leslie is a relic of a bygone era where there are no TVs or showers in the majority of rooms in the Castle. Instead the bathrooms are characterised by huge tin baths and large wooden seated toilets. But that is the quintessential charm of Castle Leslie. Just leave the modern world behind and immerse yourself in a wonderfully grand and unique experience.
The food is top notch and the beautiful grounds will provide a welcome opportunity to walk of those excess calories.
Book with confidence and enjoy a relaxing and historic stay at Castle Leslie.

We stayed here on thursday 21st June using a grouping voucher we purchased in january. Our room was in the Lodge. Staff were all very helpful, our room was very nice ans clean, modern and we arrived to a lovely bottle of champagne and chocolates. We ate in snaffles for our evening meal which was not included in the deal, it was probably the best food we have tasted in a long time and really enjoyed all 6 courses. Would love to go and stay here again and maybe stay in the castle.

We stayed here for a wedding function on 15th June 2012 and it was a great choice by the bride's parents. Rooms flowing one to the other, function marquee very elegant but cosy, grounds beautiful, hospitality and service first class. The food for the 130 guests was professionally cooked and served, everyone commented very favourably. Our bedroom was massive, very olde worlde and loveable. Breakfast super. Top of list for a wedding or for a quiet weekend of walks reading and relaxation.

I have just returned from an overnight stay with my husband yesterday and we were both completely blown away by the whole experience. The staff are very warm and attentive, the surroundings are absolutely breathtaking. We stated in the stables part which is charming, our room was beautifully decorated and had everything needed for a comfortable nights stay. The grounds to the castle are stunning, even on a wet day our spirits were not dampened by the weather. The castle itself is totally intruging and there are lots of different rooms to explore. Next time I think I would pay the extra and stay in the castle. The food was delicious, yes it was quite expensive and the wine list was also quite expensive however its what you would expect of somewhere of this standard. The only small grip I have was the portion was potatoes and vegetables served between two people was just not enough, my husband would have eaten twice as much on his own. Breakfast was a lovely experience and all the food served was fresh and delicious. Although our one night stay cost more than £300 for everything i would say it is a lovely treat and I hope we can return on another special occasion.

We stayed in the Red Room for our anniversary and was not dissappointed. The bedroom is bigger than twice my livingroom back home and the bathroom is huge. Everything in the room was an antique including the toilet and bathtub. The view out the window of the fountain and courtyard was wonderful. If you stay in the main castle make sure you check out every room (including the bathrooms) and ask about the hidden rooms. There were plenty of places to walk around the grounds. The only dissappointment was the food. Everything else surpassed our expectation.

Room Tip: For a special treat choose the Red Room. My sister and husband were in Capt. Jack's room and it...

Was looking forward to eating here for months!!! 6 courses later and it was sheer disappointment. 6 courses of bland food, nothing stood out. Again, incredible place and beautiful surroundings but was never so disappointed with a food experience. As a result, value is poor when everything you eat has had no appeal.
