“A Tad Soulless - Get Rid of All the TV's - Not Relaxing”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

We stayed one night on a package for 2 adults & 3 kids for Tayto Park Euro141- the front desk staff are nice girls but lacking a little personal touch like the hotel - soulless kind of place - the girl on the leisure centre was the friendliest - the red bar is odd and full of tv's, there were five showing all different pictures around our table and no sound - hated this - we are away to escape tv with the kids - we actually didn't get a word out of our children because of the tvs. Some of the pictures on the tvs were not suitable for children.
Breakfast is good but again soulless - not sure about this hotel - kind of middle of nowhere on a roundabout and the usual situation with a too hot bedroom over night - none of us slept very well.
The big benefit is that it is quite near Tayto Park, which you should combine with a trip to Newgrange (great place).
We stayed the second night in Newgrange Lodge (B&B/Hostel) and what craic we had with the staff - a very different experience. I guess we shall stay away from modern hotels.
We never got to the pool, but it looked lovely.
Thanks anyhow but there was nothing to drag us back - sorry.

My husband and I stayed here with our 2 kids (aged 4 & 20 months) in February 2012.....It was our first time in the area so we were unsure of what to expect. All I can say is that we were plesantly surprised. On arrival which was early I asked would it be possible to check in and was greeted with the utmost professionalism and friendliness I have ever dealt with in Ireland. All the staff were exceptionally nice and couldn't do enough for us. We ate in the bar on the night and even though it was busy the 2 gentlemen that served us were most helpful and very good with the kids. I went to the spa "Jule" and have to say had one of my most pleasant expereinces in a spa in a very long time. From the time we booked in to the time we checked out it was "EXCELLENT". We will most definetly be back. Dont forget to visit the "Tayto Park"

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and both times I've really enjoyed it. The first stay was for a wedding so I didn't get to appreciate the hotel fully, although we did have a fantastic corner suite to indulge in. . The second stay was a girls spa break and was perfect. We had spa treatments, dinner and a great breakfast followed by a swim in the morning of check out. All the staff we dealt with were very helpful.

Room Tip: Book a corner suite if you are looking for a treat

What would you expect for 129 euro for dinner , bed and breakfast? Well at this hotel expect a first class experience. The staff at the Marriott could teach a lot of hotel staff in this country how things should be done, from arrival to departure they excelled in their professionalism and friendliness. The hotel has beautiful spacious rooms that are spotlessly clean, a lovely leisure centre, great restaurant which serves delicious food, dinner and breakfast were both great. There was a great atmosphere in the bar and good live music which rounded of a really lovely and relaxing evening. Thank you to all the wonderful staff, it is great to see that Irish hospitality is still very much alive at the Ashbourne Marriott.

Stayed here a few times, but this time we left our car as part of the offer. No problem with the shuttle bus on the way out but what we weren't told was that the bus fininshed at 11pm, this was of no use to us as our flight didn't get in until 11.20pm. We had to pay 40Euro for a taxi back to the hotel, and as we were booked to stay on our return for another night I would have expected the hotel pay for the taxi fare or at least offer a complimentary bottle of wine/meal. I have checked the website and can't find any reference to times for the shuttle bus. Apart from this the staff are great, beds extremely comfortable and the meal we had on our first night was lovely no complaints at all.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room as there was a feis on got room 434 and it was great no noise at all

Stayed here a few times before and have to say it still looks quite new,
Rooms and the bathrooms are lovely and spotless clean.
I just love the big beds , they are so comfortable .
The only problem we had this time was with the food , my husband ordered steak MEDIUM which came out WELL cooked !
The staff were very nice and took it back but the new steak was just as bad , as it was under cooked and like rubber ! They took the extra charge off the bill for the steak but it did'nt make up for the Disappointing meal.
we would stay here again but think we'll try the bar food next time.
