“Disappointed”
Reviewed December 10, 2009

We ate in MASH restaurant for a friend's 30th and have to say we were very disappointed with many aspects of the night. On arrival we were told we couldn't bring the six helium balloons we had brought with us, as this is 'policy'. We were also informed that the cake we brought could be presented but would then have to be boxed and taken back, we weren't allowed to eat the cake! None of this was mentioned at the time of booking. Things got worse when we realised the table for 14 we had booked had actually been divided into two tables of 7, meaning our party had to separate. On top of this we were presented with a set three course menu. Nothing about a set menu had been mentioned at time of booking. There was no price on the menu but we were informed the cost of the three course meal would be €50 pp. Some of our party did not want dessert but no substitutions were allowed. We were sorely disappointed and unanimously said we would not return.

I cannot find any negatives about this hotel, the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant, the rooms are roomy and clean (even the basic rooms are very comfortable). I have not used the fitness or business facilities (my business was just outside of Naas) so cannot comment on them but if they are in line with the rest of the hotel they should be excellent.
Definately recommend to other travellers (both business and leisure).

Osprey lives up to its modern, artsy image inside and out! We were amazed at the screw-like carton and wood chandellier hang from the five story ceiling. And inside the rooms, everything has been done artistically. Enjoy the free entrance (for hotel residents) to the dance club next door. Good food, fantastic ambience and service.

Second time to visit this hotel on ladies only trip, got really spacious room this time with huge bathroom 2 sinks comfy robes and slippers , the mash restaurant is amazing from start to finish and the presentation of the food is incredible, felt like taking photo of each dish before eating. Breakfast also excellent best in any irish hotel i have stayed in choice very varied. Spa is great but treatments must be booked in advance staff throughout the hotel very friendly espeically Nick in the bar who is leaving! rooms cleaned every day and linen changed when not even necessary, gardens very nicely maintained. Have nothing bad to say about this hotel and will definately be returning soon.

We stayed here for a weekend as a surprise from my partner so he had just told me it was a spa hotel and I was looking forward to some nice treatments but when we arrived I phoned the reception to book treatments and they basically laughed and said im sorry but you need to book at least 3 weeks in advance and you can go on a waiting list. Which was fine but my partner didnt realise that you have to book this long in advance and when he approached the manager to complain that it did not state this anywhere when booking he was basically told the spa is nothing to do with the hotel! but the hotel is a 4 star because of the spa and thats the only reason and it is clearly advertised as a spa hotel online.
The food in Mash restaurant is really tasty and the wine list is great! I would definitely return to the restaurant but not the hotel. The room was clean though and modern but the pool was Freezing cold and the Ice room was out of order. They charge €9 euro to use the internet for 4 min! and it doesnt even work. My partner also said he could hear the DJ in the nightclub and the music going all night.

The best thing about the Osprey: food was very good in the Mash restaurant and friendly staff.

Rooms while spacious were a bit battered in fact the whole hotel could do with a revamp, the carpets were filthy in places.

In the bedroom 2 single beds pushed together to make a king, not a problem usually but when one bed is a couple of inches lower than the other you might as well be in 2 singles, not ideal for a romantic night away :-(

Nice bathtub in the bathroom.

Saw several room service trays piled up in corridor late morning and they were still there at 5pm.

Spa is ok, I think this hotel needs a revamp to bring it up to date. I wouldn't be rushing back.

I thought the staff are really friendly and the food and craic is excellent. superb rooms and the facilities are good value for the money. the setting for the hotel is excellent and the night club does not impact on the hotel.
All the staff were pleasant and the reception staff were welcoming on arrival and the service is as good as any 5star hotel i have stayed in before.
Overall one of the best and friendlest hotels to stay in , also you should try the Indie spice indian in naas , superb.
Also the johnstown inn in nearby Johnstown is excellent for pub lunch , try the local soup and sandwiches.
