“Relaxing Irish welcome on Dublin's doorstep”
Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

Very welcoming at Reception, in the spa, bar and restaurant. Happy to see the traditional Irish welcome has returned. Great service. Excellent facilities. Spa is one of the best I have experienced in Ireland. Nice pool and jaccuzi with hydromassage jet. Food was good, though the restaurant menu was just a tad limited. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. Bathroom very imaginatively and stylishly designed. Ask for a room facing the back, not the front entrance. I've stayed in both and you get a much more pleasant view. Good pubs right on the doorstep. Great location for anyone coming from Dublin for a spa break. It's not far and if needed there's public transport just outside on the main road. Nice canal walk just beside the hotel. All in all a good experience.

Stayed in the Osprey as part of a deal which included bed and breakfast and a two course dinner. We got an amazing room which was really big, with the most gorgeous bathroom and a small balcony. Dinner was really nice and every member of staff we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast the following morning was also lovely, the hot food was from a buffet which sometimes isn't very nice but everything was hot and fresh. Didn't have an opportunity to use the spa but hope to have an opportunity to return and use the next time. Would definitely recommend.

My partner and I stayed at the Osprey for a friend's birthday bash. There was a lot of difficulty in the booking as the deal that had been agreed did not seem to be known by many of the staff, so there was a lot of messing about to get the right price. The accommodation was very good - a lovely, comfy enormous bed (could have done with some more/larger pillows), stylish bathroom etc but difficult to find a light bright enough to put make up on by, and the hair-dryer didn't work (even after being "fixed" by the staff).

We used the spa area which was very pleasant, well maintained and clean. Unfortunately many of the patrons completely ignored the Keep Quiet notices, but again the staff, although few and far between, were friendly and helpful.

The service in the restaurant at breakfast was not great, although they seemed to be trying - too many guests arriving at the end of the service period was too much for the kitchen.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor. In relation to your comments about our lighting, we are in the process of refurbishing our hotel and one of things we are changing is the lighting in the bedrooms but thank you for bringing it to our attention. I am glad you enjoyed your time in the spa and I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back very soon.

If you can get a good deal this is a good value hotel. We did dinner b&b. Bathroom was nice; shower and bath. Room was odd wedge shape. Only window was a velux. Very quiet though. Hotel is well maintained and fairly newish.

Dinner was ok_ nothing special.

Good pool area and various sauna rooms.

We had spa treatments that were good.

Bar is quite nice.

I won a voucher for 1 nights B&B stay in a Junior Suite last year and decided to use it for the weekend of the 22nd & 23rd February. We stayed and paid for the Junior Suite for the 2nd night.

On check in we were greeted by a very friendly lady, I think her name began with an E. Feel terrible for not remembering her name as she was so nice to us all weekend! We were directed to our room on the 3rd Floor, room number 304. Just after we checked in, chocolates and chocolate dipped strawberries were delivered to the room. Very nice touch.

The room was HUGE, so much space and had a balcony and very nice view of the fountain. The bathroom was the best part of the room, a free-standing bath and a beautiful walk in shower. Power of the shower was perfect. The bed was a super king, could have gotten lost in it!

We ate in the Restaurant on the Friday night, ordered a bottle of Prosecco, as it was a special occasion and ordered our dinner. We weren't that hungry so only ordered a main course each. We also ordered a cheese board for afterwards and asked for the cheese to be taken out of the fridge at this time. We ordered our dinner at 8.10pm and after being advised that it would be 20mins, the main course didn't arrive until 8.55pm. No one approached us to apologise for the delay or top up our drinks in the meantime.

Dinner was beautiful, I had the Pork and it was cooked perfectly. We asked for table water at this stage as not provided beforehand. After dinner, we mentioned that we had ordered a cheese board to be taken out when ordering our dinner. At this stage it was 9.15pm and I wasn't in the mood for a dessert so we got the cheese board between us and it was after 9.30pm when the cheese board arrived and the cheese was rock hard. I asked had it been taken out beforehand and was advised yes but you can tell from cheese that it only been taken out of the fridge.

We didn't mention any of this on paying the bill and maybe we should have. The food was lovely but the service and length of time was a let down. We ate in the Bar on the Saturday evening and had the steak, it was very nice. Overall very good experience.

The bar was very nice and we had great conversations and tried a few risky shots from the lovely Lisa! She is a credit to the hotel, even though the bar was busy on both nights and had us laughing most of the weekend!

We didn't go to the Spa as they were booked out but we used the gym facilities and it was very well equipped.

We will be back for hopefully another memorable stay

Room Tip: If you are going for an occasion the Junior Suite is very nice

Have been to this hotel a couple of times before in the "Boom era", absolutely Fabulous, had lovely little things that I like in a hotel, such as a good comfortable bed, lovely Dead Sea toiletries, just little things like that. Previously we had stay in the penthouse suite & omg amazing, next 4 times after that we stayed in executive suites, again comfortable bed, lovely toiletries etc. it's been 3 years since our last stay and we got it as a present. Our room this time was a classic room. Bed was uncomfortable, no fancy throw on the bed and no fabulous Dead Sea toiletries. Bathroom was lovely expect the bottom of the shower curtain was dirty, free standing bath was nice but only thing if you we're to have a bath make sure you have long arms as there is nowhere to store your toiletries but the floor. Hubby was having a shower and grabbed his towel which was black at the end of it, we had to get more towels. I feel this hotel has lost it's touch alot that I don't think I would go back, it's such a shame cos it was a hotel world's apart from anywhere I had stayed close to home, we live approx 30 mins away. On the plus side, bar food & food in Mash Restaurant is still fabulous. Breakfast was ok, but it was very busy. Staff are very friendly & helpful.
