We were lucky enough to arrive at the wonderful Dollardstown House and meet Antoinette who gave us the warmest of welcomes. She is the perfect hostess (nothing too much trouble) and as others have said before within ten minutes we felt we were talking to a good friend. The glorious three course dinner we ate in the cosy dining room was delightful. We also had our lovely Irish breakfast in here, making us both think life doesn't get any better than this. With family photos all around and a log fire this was the Ireland we both love. Our bedroom was so cosy with great views of the front garden and drive. More than once we thought we wished we could stay a little bit longer. So thank you Antoinette and Andrew for making our two days very special.

We stayed with Antoinette and Andrew for one night as we were attending a wedding in the local area. Our first impression of the house as we pulled through the gates was fantastic and we were made feel very welcome by Antoinnette who came out to the car to greet us. The house is a historic property which is being lovingly restored by the owners. The bedrooms are full of character with really comfy beds with high quality bed linen. Our room had an ensuite with a great shower along with a wc and wash hand basin. The view from the bedroom was lovely with rabbits, pheasants and cattle all rambling around. The owners arranged for a local taxi company to bring us to the wedding and we were given a key to the front door to let ourselves in when we got back which was a lovely touch. Breakfast the following morning was excellent with a full irish breakfast and wonderful home baked brown bread. Following breakfast we settled down in the lounge to read the Sunday papers with a pot of coffee. We felt completely at ease in Dollardstown house which really did feel like a home from home and we would definitely reccommend staying here in the future.

Just back from a night stay at Dollardstown House for TriAthy. We brought our 3 children and my husband stayed an extra night. There was a double room for us and the kids had a kingsize bed and a single in their room.

Can't praise Antionette and Andrew enough for the warm welcome and friendly and attentive service. Nothing is too much trouble and they really do go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need.

Home-baked scones were lovely on arrival and I can recommend the full Irish breakfast.

Great value for money and a lovely house on lovely surroundings. Furnishings are in keeping with the house.

Kids are asking when we can come back - hopefully next year!

I stayed at Dollardstown House for six nights in March. I really needed a break. I had a very nice and welkome stay. Antoinette and Andrew are wonderfull people and I really did feel at home. I stayed in the Iris room, a really lovely room, with authentic furniture and old big windows witth long tall curtains and shutters. It. Is a very warm and cosy room and I would recommend it to everybody. Dollardstown House is a beautifull place, very authentic. I think that the surrounding area's are really beautifull. I did love Wicklow Mountains and the old Celtic remains. It was my firts time in Ireland and I felt overwelmd by the beauty of this country and the kindness of it's people. I was there during St. Patricks day and wathed the parade in Athy and then was taken to a pub by some friendly lokal people. One week was just not enough and I certainly will go back. I would like to thank Antoinette and Andrew for a very warm and welkome stay and I can certainly recommend everybody a stay at Dollardstown House. I never will forget the wonderfull time I had there and in Ireland. And by the way, the breakfast is really very good and a good way to start the day.

We recently spent 2 nights at Dollardstown House and had a wonderful time. The house is wonderful and atmospheric, set in beautiful grounds. Our hosts, Antoinette and Andrew could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The legendary scones lived up to our expectations, and both the breakfasts and evening dinner cooked by local chef Lydia were fabulous. (We had booked dinner for just one night and ended up booking for a second as we enjoyed our meal, and Lydia's company so much!). I can't recommend this guest house too much. I'm coming back again, next time for a girls' weekend :-)

Dear C.
Thank you so much for staying and dining with us. It was lovely to have you here and it would be great to see you return with your friends for a girls weekend away.
With the new rooms finished soon, we'll be able to welcome small groups for anniversaries, family get-togethers, special birthdays, or like you've planned girlie weekends etc. There is plenty of space for 12 dinner (and B&B) guests by our blazing fires.

Warmest regards,
Andrew & Antoinette

My Husband and I are just back from a lovely relaxing one night stay at Dollardstown House. Arrived to a very warm welcome and lovely homemade scones which we kept for the next day as didn't want to fill up before dinner. Lovely surroundings and homemade dinner cooked by Lydia. The food was excellent. Was able to relax by a nice fire for the rest of the evening with our bottle of wine. Breakfast very nicely presented along with a extra treat of a chocolate easter bunny as it was easter sunday. Thanks to Antoinette and Andrew for their hospitality. Would definitely recommend.

A bit off the beaten track, but worth it! Indeed, our favourite in Ireland (we sampled about 7 B&B's around the country). Antoinette and Andrew were absolutely lovely hosts, catering to all our needs. We enjoyed dinner both nights of our stay, cooked by Lydia - simple yet innovative, well-presented cuisine, portions substantial! And some of the best home cooked soda bread we sampled. When we couldn't touch the tea-time scones (saving appetite), Antoinette packaged them up for the next day's lunch - so thoughtful and appreciated! Room was a bit chilly on arriving, but heating pads on the bed and an extra heater made it cozy, and fires in both sitting and dining room provided warmth and atmosphere. A wonderful place from which to explore both nearby sites and to hike in the Wicklow Mts - we loved returning here after our walks in rather cool, early March. Thank you, A&A! We've been inn-keepers ourselves, so know that creating this kind of experience is a lot harder than it looks!

Dear G & K. Thank you so much for staying with us and for your kind words. We are delighted to hear you had a good time.
This spring has been particularly cold for Irish standards. It is easy to see how heating Dollardstown in the early 17hundreds must have been a continuous process of keeping all the fires going all day. Thankfully nowadays central heating and electric blankets are at our disposal.
Andrew & I wish you enjoyable onward travels in Europe and hope to welcome the two of you again some day.
