The fort is interesting and climbing around it is fun. The horses and friendly donkey nearby just add to the charm. The waterfall was an unexpected bonus. The antiquity of the place is striking, thought I would have liked more information about the excavations done thus far on the fort.

Dunbeg Fort is a promontory fort situated on the cliffside along the wonderfully scenic Slea Head road west of Dingle. It was built as a defensive site in the 8th/9th century and includes grassy banks and circular drystone ramparts. It's quite a small site but worth a stop - but it would be greatly improved if the presentation, including information leaflet and the provision of information boards, were done properly. It has an amateurish air of something that mainly provides money for the private company running it, however much they appreciate its history. The plastic fencing around the site is pretty unattractive too, and I'm sure cliffside security could be provided in a more sensitive style. We didn't bother with the film, because we were put off by the offhand manner of the staff member in the info office.

So, a disappointment in spite of the location and the historical interest of the site.

The beautiful views along the cliffs of Dingle Bay and the amazing stone fort is something to see. Then you can walk across and see the video presentation about history of area and they have Restaurant next door

Well worth a look & a walk around - a bit nerve wracking for those with young kids however it's well cordoned off from the cliff. Fantastic views for photos.

This fort is just a collection of some stone walls and has nothing much to offer. However, the view from the place is nice.
No point in paying a fee to just see some stone walls which you can see even from the road.
Avoid.
