We had a terrific meal at the Stonehouse Restaurant across from Dunbeg Fort in the Dingle Peninsula. It is a lovely stone building with outside picnic tables for those who want a view. Inside, it is plain, light and clean - not at all fancy, if that's your thing. Our small group had a light lunch (2 desserts, 2 sandwiches and the mandatory beer, of course) - both the food and service were fantastic and meal presentation was a delightful surprise! The food here is some of the best we had while in Ireland, and that's saying a lot considering that we never felt that we had a bad meal!

We stopped here without realizing it was closing time but workers made us feel welcome and served us dinner anyway. My husband raved about the gourmet crab sandwich. The Irish coffee was so good he had to have a second one. I had deep-fried cod, which was tremendous. Two huge pieces.

We were touring the Dingle Peninsula and stopped to see the Danbeag Fort (500 B.C). It was mid morning and we wanted some sandwiches to have a picnic latter. Stonehouse Restaurant had some very good open face salmon & tomato sandwiches which were very good. They were a little messy, so be sure to grab some paper napkins if you are going to have a picnic latter.

On touring the dingle peninsula we discovered the stonehouse restaurant, We had a great day in September so we could eat outside. From the donkeys watching us eat to the beautiful structure as background we had a great time, Great local crab sandwich, smoked salmon sandwich was also amazing. Excellent bottle of sauvignon blanc-seemingly in the middle of nowhere!! Staff were very nice and friendly, even though they must get sick of tourists asking how old the place is lol. Thanks to all for a nice visit-gotta love the people of Ireland and especially that region
