This property did not live up to our expectations at all. 1300€ for a week is way over priced. Cottage is a small 5 bed. Furnishings are old and tatty. The whole place needs renovating and a good deep clean. Wouldn’t go back.
You really have to look carefully to find the small lane leading to the house. The house is in a quiet space. It provides everything (including WiFi) to relax and has plenty of room for seven people. You are instructed by a folder how to operate the utilities. Obviously the house is managed by an agency. We would have preferred to see a real person to save us time after a long drive. Small items are in short supply. No paper towels, no basic spices, little toilet paper. Should be fixed, then you will have a great stay.
The location was great for our family. Everyone had their own room. Dining room was big enough for 8. Super easy to walk to decent grocery store, multiple pubs and the harbor. The town was big enough for our 5 night stay but small enough we actually made friends with a local pub owner. Also easy driving to Cliff's of Moher, The Burren, and Galway City.
On the plus side this house is well located, within easy walking distance of the village centre. It's also well equipped.
It does sleep 8...just, although it's a squeeze for two families of 4. Our 2 (younger) kids had to share one double bed and there's not much room for suitcases in the rooms with the wider doubles. In short it is indeed cosy and quite pricey (€1300 per week in July '17 plus electricity) compared to other houses we've stayed in previously. There didn't seem to be many available options this close to town though so I guess you could argue that it's priced with this in mind.
We had a lovely three week stay in March, two adults and a toddler. We had a few overnight and dinner guests and the accomodation was sizeable enough to fit us all comfortably. The location is unbeatable, on a country lane just off the main road into Kinvara village. Minutes walk to shops, pubs etc but had a nice feeling of the countryside with only a few houses on the road and horses and sheep in the fields nearby.
Big positives were location, the cosy and well equipped house and easy to deal with host Kathy.
Negatives were that it wasn't very clean and we had to wash a lot of the dishes before using them and the house is in need of a bit of love.
Overall it was a great stay and we'll definitely be back.
We were a group of five adults (ages18 to 76) who rented this charming cottage in Kinvara, County Galway. Kathy, the owner, was very clear with directions about everything from how to locate the cottage to how to work the electric.
Let me start by saying this rental property is a very good value for the cost. We got a roomy cottage with five bedrooms, each having very comfortable beds, warm covers and large pillows. The one bedroom on the ground level is en suite with nice hot water in the shower. The upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with an electric shower delivering immediate hot water. All of the bedrooms are of a good size and welcoming. Skylights brighten the second floor.
The kitchen is well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The attractive dining table can seat eight. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus. Also, the vacuum was handy.
Our favorite gathering place was the very comfortable and cozy living room with a fireplace which we used every night. We burned firelogs, peat and wood (which gave off the most heat). WI-FI was appreciated as we planned each day's outing. The location is wonderful for exploring Counties Galway and Clare.
Kinvara town is a short walk down a lovely tree-lined lane in front of the cottage. It is a rough ittle country lane with some pot holes which only add charm to the cottage experience in our opinion. We enjoyed the rookeries high in the gnarled trees and watching magpies, wood pigeons and the entertaining rooks.
As I said, this accommodation is a great value. Expect an authentic Irish country ambience. Do not expect high-end furnishings or manicured lawns. The ony things I would change would be to replace a couple of worn throw pillows and match the sofa throws. Otherwise, we found the accomodation to bedelightful ad Katy to be most helpful.
