My girlfriend and I did a road-trip down the west coast of Ireland this easter, and pulled up late (8.30ish) one night to Doorus House in beautiful Kinvara to be greeted by a welcoming Sean. As a couple he informed us that although the hostel ran male and female dorm rooms, as there were no other women staying that night we could have the female dorm to ourselves which was brilliant. The hostel was basic but perfectly clean, and in an extremely picturesque location. There was a large kitchen, dining room and a lounge which we didn't use but it looked well equipped. The following night we returned and Sean said that there were other women staying so we couldn't stay in the same room, we were happy to sleep in separate dorms but he then gave us our own bungalow! It was great. He could not have been more accomodating. Thanks for a great stay - I would highly recommend this place for a cheap night's kip. Kinvara (a few miles away) is a lovely little Irish fishing village with plenty of local pubs, good night life and a nice farmers market. We were lucky enough to be staying during the cuckoo festival http://www.kinvara.com/cuckoo/ and managed to experience some of the festivities.
