“This is a really nice B&B”
Reviewed July 6, 2010

This is one of those B&B's that I knew I liked the moment that I arrived. The welcome was excellent with coffee scones and jam.
The location is right on the little high street with views of the sea from the bedroom and restaurants and bars nearby, as was the pretty harbour of Roundstone.
The bedroom was nice and warm, a good size, plenty of storage room, well presented, TV and wireless internet. The ensuite was smallish.
The guest loung was comfortable with a large sateliteTV.
Breakfast was very good, lots of choice.

First place we tried in Roundstone and we were only going to stay one night before moving on, we actually stayed five nights and would have loved to have stayed longer but we had a ferry booking. It is the ideal place to stay and tour the area or just relax and walk or cycle the locality, Maurice knows all the interesting places. We have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to anyone - you will not be disappointed.

Just what we wanted, lovely firm beds in the village, no noise, great breakfast and Maurice and his family are lovely people. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

On a recent trip to Ireland, I spent six nights at the Island View, using the B&B as base for my explorations and ramblings throughout Connemara. Words are inadequate to describe and express my appreciation to the owners of this family run B&B. B&Bs are the preferred accommodations when I travel, and this B&B stands out from the rest. In many ways, the Island View mirrors the village of Roundstone in its warmth and charm. After many days rambling throughout Connemara, I was greeted in the late afternoon with a pot of tea and a warm scone. Maurice and his wife go out of their way to accommodate their guests. The rooms are extremely comfortable and up-to-date in appointment and convenience. Breakfast was always abundant and delicious, using all local produce and victuals. Because he is from the area, Maurice was extremely helpful in providing advice on drives, walks, and local history. Perhaps my best memories of the stay were the conversations I would have with him, his wife, and occasionally his children - usually over a pot of tea. This is truly a family-run B&B. If you, as a traveler, are interested in more than just a bed and a breakfast, than the Island View is highly recommended. Traveling should be about meeting local people and sharing stories and experiences. Roundstone offers this, and so does the Island View. The only hitch is that you - the traveler - must take time out from your busy schedule and listen, share, and laugh with the people who are doing their best to accommodate you. The Island view is the perfect place to do that.

Maurice and Aisling are wonderful hosts, we enjoyed every day. The room was very spacious, clean and with a beautiful sight to the sea.
We got a lot of good hints what to do, there was enough to see in five days. Roundstone is a small and beautiful village, with pubs and good restaurants.
The white sandy beach is right around the corner.
We would always recommend this B&B .

Very friendly B&B, rooms comfortable, Irish Breakfast amazing, still not sure what is in White Pudding but would recommend it.
Owner very helpful, I had to change my travel plans due to the Volcano in Iceland which meant I was arriving very late and Maurice was more than accomodating.
Also Maurice is more than happy to give tips on where to go.
Local scenery is amazing and would recommend the view from Errisbeg overlooking Dogs Bay and Gersheen Bay. See attached photo.

We discovered this lovely B&B by pure coincidence when we searched a place in Connemara for pure relaxation. Maurice was very friendly helping out with lots of hints where to go and what to do and always had a warm welcome and word for us and the other guests. Our room was lovely with a very picturesque sight over the harbour and Inishknee. The breakfast was made with love and very tasty, the full Irish platter as well as the scrambled eggs with salmon as well as fresh fruits with yoghurt. We stayed there four nights instead of one and would always return to this place!!!
