We had originally planned to spend one night in Roundstone but as soon as we checked in to Island View House we decided to stay another night. It was everything you could want, and our room had a fantastic view of Connemara hills and sea.

Room Tip: If possible get a room with a view out the front

Roundstone itself is out there, a few of the roads might be tricky for foreign drivers, but once there, it is a wonderful, quiet, tiny town with a few good restaurants and cool shops. This is one road in, one road out, all in a few hundred yards This is not the place to be touristy, but it is coastal town that obviously still is home to fisherman and true locals. Some nice walks are available up the hills if you are in for some trailblazing with spiny heather, fuchsia, and free range goats, and mountains are not far away, within view when the clouds lift.

Island View is a simple row house kind of location, set up across the two lane road (the only road essentially!) from a small park that abuts the sea. Great views and quaint location. The rooms were simple and clean with on suite and the usual hot water maker and tea bags. Upon arrival, some wonderful scones and tea were brought out, which really helps you feel at home on a misty coastal morning. The owners, a family, were very accommodating and willing to suggest activities in the area. If you have the front room you could watch sailing and fishing boats ease in and out of the bay.

It is near the western edge of town before the road jogs north into some rural territory before the next, larger town. A great place for some quiet time or a lively dinner among locals in a small town, but if you want more of a city than a few pubs and restaurants and about 3 stores (1 working atm when we stayed), then you might want to stay elsewhere. It is, however, a wonderful home base for day trips and hikes, so if you are out that direction, island view and round stone are good choices. Another plus was the music at the pubs, good stuff! While there, check out the pottery shop and the adjacent music store where real authentic celtic drums are still made by hand... this is not one of those highway side plaza cooperatives, just a few shops down a little road at the end of town.

So to summarize, small, pretty, and real coastal town with limited activities but a lot of opportunities if you know what you are getting into. Island View is definitely recommended if in the greater roundstone area.

Certainly this must be one of the top B&Bs in Ireland! In spite of its being somewhat 'off the beaten path', Maurice and Asling were amazing with their friendliness and helpfulness. The weather was overcast and rainy but the welcoming tea and scones before the warm fireplace seemed to wipe away the clouds. In addition to its cleanliness and charm, Island View had the most wonderful bed I had slept on in 3 visits to Ireland!! My only regret is that Roundstone is so far away.

We were delighted to discover this treasure of a B & B!! We were warmly greeted by the owner and served up a scones and pot of tea! The incredible views, lovely room, genuine hospitality, and DELICIOUS breakfast made this one of our favorite accommodations. The mattress and bedding we absolutely dreamy! The surrounding town and area was just beautiful! We highly recommend this B & B!! Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor for a great view!

Truly the hight of Irish hospitality. I can't recommend this place enough. My room had a beautiful view onto Roundstone sea and mountains. Inside the fire was blazing upon our arrival home every cold night, our warm beds where made up with the highest quality sheets I have came across in the travels. The owners of the B&B we two amazing people - Maurice filled us in on all the local info of the town and Aisling made us feel welcome and cozy at all times! Friends stayed in other local B&B and hotels and from reporting stories we lucked out by far and had the best quality, price and service is town!

We have been filming in Roundstone for the last two weeks and we had the absolute pleasure of staying at Island View House B&B. Even though it was bitterly cold outside, we came home every night to the lovely warmth of Island View. Beautiful warm rooms with top quality bedlinen, hot showers with great views over the Atlantic right in the centre of the Roundstone. Thanks so much to Morris, the owner for making our time in Roundstone so comfortable, pleasurable and easy. I cannot recommend Island View highly enough.

Room Tip: All the rooms were amazing. For views of the Atlantic, which is across the street! Ask for front roo...

A very warm welcome awaits at this B+B. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is tasty, with a choice of grilled breakfast or a healthy option. The location is convenient, close to the centre of this small town. Also good value for money. The town itself is beautiful and very friendly. The landscape in this part of the country is beautiful, well worth a visit.
