Description: O'Dowds is a traditional Bar & Seafood Restaurant situated in the centre of Roundstone village overlooking the harbour. It has been run by the O'Dowd family for four generations since 1906. A bar has been operating on the premises since 1840 and it is widely regarded as the oldest pub in Connemara. It is now famous for its excellent fresh local seafood and it has one of the best pints of guinness in the locality. You can also taste some excellent irish craft beers like: The Galway Hooker, O'Hara's Irish Stout & O'Hara's light Ale.O'Dowds is open from 10am every day all year, serving breakfast until 12 noon, a bar menu is served from noon to 9.30pm every day. Fresh seafood include our own Home-made Seafood Chowder, Roundstone Crab Claws, Cashel Bay Mussels, Mannin Bay Oysters, Local Lobster and our very popular Fisherman's Platter, all accompanied with home-made brown scones. Chicken, Meat, Vegetarian, Soups S Sandwiches are also well catered for. Reservations in our restaurant are advisable during July & August & Bank Holiday weekends.O'Dowds has a special traditional pub atmosphere & friendly service which has remained unchanged for decades if not centuries. The bar is small & intimate with its traditional turf fire & beautiful views over Roundstone Harbour & The Twelve Bens.

Nice restaurant with reasonable prices for the area. Was quite busy on a summer night, so I'd recommend booking as the place is quite small. We had a nice homemade soup and spicy salmon...

We recently visited this Pub Restaurant and immediately on arrival found the lay out somewhat
confusing. In the bar section we were not informed of the daily specials or dining options. Going through to the restaurant , we had to repeatedly ask for details of the so called daily specials.

The menu was limited and for an establishment that boasts to specialize in fresh fish caught daily the only types on offer were Salmon and Haddock. We opted for pan-fried Haddock and Chips.
The fish was overcooked and dry , the chips plentiful but arrived luke warm.

With three bottles of beer and a glass of wine the bill came to just over 50 Euro not good value
for what was on offer.

Went for food at O'Dowds last Sunday and enjoyed it very much, Staff are friendly and helpful.
Good menu choice. I had the seafood chowder beautiful and roast chicken with veg and mash lovely. My wife had a beautiful piece of Hake with salad and chips and one of our boys had Chicken wings which he enjoyed. Portion size big and certainly not overpriced.
Tried the Irish bottled beer nice change and strong stuff 5.2% proof, if I had a few more it may have been Heaven we were dining in!!
