We got married here in Oct, and it was amazing. Most of our guests travelled and booked in for a few nights, everyone raved about the hotel and the staff and have said they will be back. As with any big event there were blips, and the hotel sorted them with ease and efficacy. The old world charm is an asset to the place, and as much of a bridezilla as I became, entering the stress free zone was great. I will be back, not just because it now holds great memories, but it is a great hotel for a stress free break, with fantastic food in a beautiful area! Thanks Cillian, Ronnie and all the staff!

Recent stay in the Renvyle House Hotel was fantastic. So relaxing and laid back with such friendly staff. Its perfectly isolated way out in Connemara with a pebble beach right outside the door. Plenty of attractions and activities to do if thats your thing, or, chill out in the hotel with a few pints and good company. The hotel itself could be described as old style and charming (others may say dated), I prefer the latter. They are pet friendly which was a great bonus (for those who love dogs). Will definately be staying again.

This review relates to the Renvyle Strand, an Interval International Resort connected to Renvyle House Hotel. It was difficult for us to find a review on this property, and so I hope that my review will help those of you considering staying at this timeshare property. This was an outstanding resort, and we have stayed in many throughout the world. We had an entire house that could be considered a cottage because of its atmosphere, hardwood floors, and view of the lake.
Three of us stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bath unit with a fully applianced kitchen, living room with peat fireplace, satellite tv, sauna and porches. We had not slept and relaxed for a long time until we arrived there. We would have loved to have stayed for three months! There is no Intenet access in the unit, but that was fine because we enjoyed the scenic stroll over to the hotel, where Internet access was available. During one of my walks, I was startled by a pheasant lying in the grass who suddenly flew off! This is just one of my fabulous experiences with nature. You will need a car to enjoy the area and explore sites like Kylemore Abbey, the lovely town of Clifden, and Killary Fjord. Each of these is highly recommended. You must try Connemara oysters while there! By the way, dinner in the hotel is a wonderful experiencek as well.

Hotel is in a beautiful location. A bit isolated. You would need to use the car if going out to eat. Food is beautiful in the restaurant. Lovely turf fires lighting everywhere. Its lovely for a quiet break if there is not a wedding on. if there is you wont be able to find quiet space for yourself to sit and read. Smokers are allowed gather in the front porch of the hotel to smoke which is very off putting. Some rooms not suitable if you have difficulty with stairs. There is no leisure centre so you need to be able to entertain yourself. It would not suit families in rainy weather and teenagers would be bored! Breakfast while very varied is average and doesnt seem to be cooked to order

Room Tip: Get a room in the old part of the hotel as we believe they are bigger.

Dear AnnM06022011,

Thank you for staying with us recently and for taking the time to write your review. We nearly always notify guests if there is a wedding on in the hotel at the time of booking so that guests, not part of the wedding, could change their dates if required, we are sorry if this was overlooked on this occasion.

We have numerous leisure facilities on site which many of our guests including our younger guests enjoy including boating on the private lake, the 9-hole golf course, tennis courts and lawn bowls. You are correct in stating that we have not an indoor swimming pool nor do we claim to have one but we have a beach at the back door. There are plenty of rooms within the hotel to take a book (or an afternoon siesta) by a fireside seat. We also have a selection of board games available at reception. The children's indoor play area in the Courtyard has proved to be a hit with most families.

I can assure you that each and every guest's breakfast is cooked to order.
We have a number of ground floor rooms which we happily allocate to guests not keen on stairs, we have a selection of standard rooms, family rooms, family suites and superior rooms on the ground floor, we wished we'd known this when you were booking and we would have been pleased to accommodate your requirements.

We hope you had a safe journey home and wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Kind regards,
Sabina

It was the first time to Renvyle and the prospect of a night away with "Gourmet" dinner was too tempting to miss. We phoned the hotel direct and got a good rate for the upgraded room which included a lounge area with real fire. Just as well it did because the heating was not switched on and the room as freezing. We mentioned that to the friendly reception staff who managed to get the heating on in the lounge but not the bedroom. The room was at the end of the newer wing of the hotel with stunning views out to the islands off the coast. The dining room (like the rest of the hotel) needed a bit of attention. The chairs were particularly uncomfortable and the menu, although it was described as "gourmet" was probably what I would describe as "very good home cooking".There was not much wrong with the meal itself but when I see Leek & Potato or Carrot & Coriander soup on the menu I know what standard of cuisine I am going to be served. The wine list was limited but we chose the Delas Freres Crozes Hermitage 2009 which was particularly good and we finished off with a glass of Muscat. There is plenty to do around the hotel with kayaking, golf, clay pigeon shooting, walking etc so if you want a beautiful drive out to the wilds of Connemara and are searching for outdoor activities this may just be the place you are looking for. If however you are seeking out a high class gourmet experience, I would look elsewhere.
