“A perfect weekend away”
Reviewed November 11, 2008

We stayed at Ballynahinch the weekend of 31st October 2008 and we have been talking about it since. From the moment that we were welcomed warmly until we checked out everything was perfect including one of the best meals that we have ever eaten. The grounds are amazing and the staff are the best that we have ever had the pleasure of meeting, friendly, attentive without being intrusive. The rooms was fantastic and we are already planning our next trip back.

This was our third visit to the Castle. The welcome was a wonderful as ever. This is the place to come if you want to get away from everything and relax. We had a luxury room which was massive. The food is sublime. I love the potato cakes with a poached egg in the morning, then a long walk around the grounds. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to a return visit but have great memories till then.

Once again my sister and I have spent a wonderful few days at Bally. This is country house splendour without the class status often found in good hotels. The team here is fantastic. The food is superb (thank you for the puds) and although it is fine dining the dining room is very relaxed, no ties and jackets here (when did they ever improve a meal?). Ballynahinch is a gem and the ideal place to escape to and chill. It is Irish hospitality at its best and we are already planning our next trip.

We loved our stay at Ballynahinch Castle, unfortunately it was so long ago: from the warmth of the fire upon arrival to the friendliness of the ladies at reception, the days that followed were more than delightful with the charming restaurant staff and friendly porters attending to each and every need. The staff were very well trained, polite and not over-bearingly attentive. The food was also delicious, the breakfast in bed is a must! Fresh fruit salad and natural yoghurt just before a tasty freshly made "irish breakfast" --- exceeding expectations. Hope to return again soon. Perfect for romance.

I stayed here for a weekend with my partner and our 18 month old. Absolutely loved it. It is v. expensive but worth every penny. This trip was a 30th birthday for my partner as he is a flyfishing addict. Loved the decor, its not bling just very tastefully decorated, retaining all its old charm and furnishings. We ate in the restaurant one evening with our son and the food was amazing. We are real foodies so we just loved it. The breakfast is gorgeous too. Plus great pints of guinness in the bar. The grounds are really beautiful and peaceful. We'll be back......

Luckily, we were upgraded to a river-side room, and it was just lovely. The walking trails were beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable though on the hot side. In the middle of the night, my friend and I woke up very warm and called for assistance as it warns against opening the window because of biting flies. John, the night manager, did a superb job of bringing fans and iced water and getting the room cooled off. He was fantastic and efficient and made the stay a great stay. The staff in the bar was friendly. The only person not so happy was the manager that checked us in, she seemed very stressed. Food was great -- we had the best food all over ireland -- better than italy! I would love to stay here again. Wonderful time!

The hotel grounds are just stunning and I regret not allowing more time at the "castle" and Connemara area. This is the perfect place to unwind. Because we were traveling with two other people I got to see both the standard "classic" room and the riverside suites. The classic rooms are suitable ( in a little need of refurbishing) but the riverside rooms are divine. The suites are of course spacious and include a dressing room but best of all have the amazing view of the river.
Even though you are sharing the castle with other guests the area is so secluded and quiet it feels like your little piece of the world. Loved this place and hope to come back.
