“Gorgeous accomodations in a stunning setting”
Reviewed July 25, 2011

My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the end of a bicycle tour in Western Ireland. The accomodations were plush yet comfortable. The goumet meals in the dining room were excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. But the best part of this place - and it would be hard to beat the rooms and food - is the views of the beautiful lakes and Twelve Pins (or Bens - depending on who you ask) mountain range. I read an earlier tip to bring bug spray if you are out in the evening and I agree with that. One of the two best places we stayed during our time in Ireland.

I had visited for lunch and dinner a few times over the last three or four years, and always had great meals, but I hadn't stayed there for a few years. I had forgotten how good it was! The room was spacious with its own dressing room and large bathroom (as well as the room itself being large of course), and had an amazing view out across Lough Inagh and up to the mountains above. The service was literally perfect, the four-poster bed was really comfortable with a lovely duvet, the sitting rooms around the hotel were perfectly kept and so comfortable for pre-or-post dinner drinks.I honestly can't think of a single thing to criticise, although of course this is a country house style hotel - there is no pool or playground, for example. Really this is a place to relax in, and use as a base for exploring Connemara. It's far better than more well-known places in the area.

We are in love with this stunning, secluded property and the incredible views and local walks! I especially appreciated how the decor was classic and lived-in, but with none of the dust or musty smell you often find in older properties. Great dinner and breakfast spread and good for vegetarians. Walking nearby, we didn’t see a soul for hours, just dozens of sheep and a few beautiful horses wandering alone—like a fairytale! Do bring bug spray for evenings by the water.

We stayed for three nights and from the moment we arrived everything was just perfect. We were welcomed with tea/coffee and home made scones hot from the over in front of an open fire. We were then shown to our rooms which were beautiful and the views spectacular. Breakfast and dinner in the dining room were excellent. Hope to go back soon. Thank you for a really wonderful weekend break.

We have stayed at many lovely places during our cycling trip in Connemara but none beat this in terms of beauty, comfort, friendly, and lovely service. The view from the front of the lodge is breathtaking, the owners of the lodge are ever present and friendly and helpful. You couldn't ask for more friendly but not assuming staff - in short, you feel like you are at home in a paradise that you could never imagine. The food is excellent, whether you eat in the bar or restaurant,, and if you'd like tea, or a drink, in the front room with a fire, or at the bar, no matter, the service is lovely. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place, I would come back here in a heart beat!
