We were stopping in Lebanon for the night and like to try non chain restaurants and Mo Cara's was #1 on trip advisor. We pulled up in the parking lot at 7 pm on a Saturday and it was nearly empty. So that worried us a bit but we went inside anyway. Glad we did. The inside is beautiful and well decorate. We ordered the BBQ nachos wich were our favorite part of the meal. I ordered the boneless catfish which was ok but the broccoli slaw it came with was so good. The prices are reasonable for the food you get and the presentation. The service was also very good. The owner (who I presume was the owner) came to our table to ask how our meal was.

If you are ever in Lebanon, TN or even close, you owe it to yourself to go here. I had the Bonnie Blue Fried Goat Cheese for an appetizer which was good. I had the Bone in Duroc Smoked Stuffed Grilled Pork Loin for the entree and that was very good. The entree came with baked potato (nothing special) and the Fat Man Original Mac & Cheese (yummy). The person I was with had the Bonnie Blue Melon Salad for an appetizer which he enjoyed. It came with the most experimental item -- a 'caviar' which was made from sea weed. It was shaped like caviar but its purple color and crunchy texture would not make anybody think of Beluga. His entree was the BBQ Grilled Chicken which he also enjoyed.

What a fun surprise to find Mo'Cara's in what we had expected to be just another sleepy little burg in middle Tennessee, typically only proferring nothing more than chain restaurants. The service was 4-star, the decor very attractive and most importantly, the menu creative and delicious. Our choices included a fresh green salad with watermelon cured in honey with a Bonnie Blue goat cheese medallion served w/ a sweet tea vinaigrette, seafood that was fresh and delicate, and had we still been hungry following the ample portions, we spied a tempting offering of desserts. What we're still talking about - the chef's novel waffle quarters included in the bread basket. Reminisent of a South American arepa, crispy on the outside, moist and cheesy on the inside, the corn meal waffle quarter had a zippy bit of jalepeno enveloped within.
And the icing on the cake, the prices were very reasonable for the food that's a sweet tribute to southern cuisine served with "comp'ny manners".

Don't save Mo' Cara for a special night out. There are many unusual, reasonably priced dishes on the menu and warm caring service.

We were in town for the Country Music Marathon. We don't like chain restaurants and initially thought we'd have to go Mexican or Chinese in order to support a local business in a tiny town. Quick internet search shows Mo'Caras. What an unbelievable find!

Food is extraordinary! Portions are plentiful. You're taken care of by the folks who own it. Collard greens with Fuji apples are fantastic. Most big cities don't have restaurants with this quality of food and service, but little Lebanon does.

I'll make my way back several more times, even though its a 3 hour drive.
