“Our favourite B&B”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

We arrived late in the evening after an unexpected detour to climb Croagh Patrick (but that's another story). The welcome tea and scones helped revive our spirits, but the generosity of our hosts was overwhelming. Despite the late hour, Sylvain offered to whip up a meal to save us heading out again in search of dinner. We were expecting "something simple" and got a 2 course meal that any Michelin chef would be proud of. Don't hesitate to pre-book your dinner at the B&B - you won't be disappointed.

We had a wonderful two-day stay at this out of the way B&B in beautiful Connemara on the west coast of Ireland. Our hosts made us more than welcome. The little people in the house were a bonus! The house is modern; our room and the dining room overlook a little inlet from the sea. You are in easy driving distance of the sights of Connemara. If you do go, be sure to ask if the hosts will make dinner; we had a most magnificent dinner in the dining room overlooking the bay in the twilight, with good wine, simple local food, and limoge china. An evening to remember. If you are within a 100 km of western Connemara, search out this B&B and stay here!
PS: There is internet and a guests lounge, and a deck for warmer weather.

Room Tip: Ask for the front room overlooking the bay, on the main floor

Oh, how we loved our time here! We were tired and road-weary when we arrived, but Mary's warm welcome and pot of tea revived us instantly! Sylvain is a wonderful chef who cooked an evening meal for us, and it was the best beef stew we've ever had! Breakfast was delicious too, and kept us satisfied all day. Our lovely room looked out onto the sea, and we slept soundly and comfortably. Did I mention how peaceful and beautiful it is there? We were so grateful to find this little slice of heaven in Cashel!

We enjoyed two nights here whilst attending a family event and couldn't have picked a better place. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, the family were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were delicious. We will definitely be back when visiting again!

Room Tip: The family room was spacious and quiet but nice and dark so no early awakening from our son!

The sign pointed down a narrow side-road and said "B&B 3.5km". We almost turned back, but are so glad we didn't!
The hosts (Mary & Sylvain) were a delight and were very welcoming. They served us afternoon tea with fresh scones when we arrived and prepared a lovely dinner and breakfast for us as well. They were happy to chat to us about the building of their eco-friendly B&B, which was VERY comfortable and has a gorgeous outlook over the bay, also visible from our bedroom. Peaceful setting, excellent hosts, very comfortable accommodation, yummy food ... what more could anyone want?

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms, and we think all of them have a lovely view to the bay.

We only spent one night as we were on a fairly hectic schedule, but we wish we could have stayed longer. This B&B really shows the amount of care an effort the owners have made in their home. The room was lovely, we had an amazing view of the water. The bed was comfy, and wonderful linens. There is a homey sitting room in which when we arrived, they built a small peat fire and served wonderful scones and tea.
We needed to pay for our toll on the internet, and Mary the owner, found the webpage for us and let us use her computer to arrange that. They were more than helpful in every respect.
Sylvan pointed us to a place to have dinner that was wonderful and made sure we knew how to find the place.
In the morning, we had an delicious breakfast including a buffet of cold items such as yogurt, cereal and juice along with the "full Irish " breakfast in a sunny room overlooking the water. There were several other guests there too, and it was fun talking to them about their travels.
This B&B is a little farther out than many might be from major roads, but is more than worth the extra drive, if not only for the scenery. Mary and Sylvan have tried to make their place more like a boutique hotel than any we visited on our trip.
We would love to return to this peaceful place, and would like to enjoy a dinner that they will cook for you if you arrange that ahead of time. It is a wonderful spot and you really can't do any better.
