Stayed here with my mother and my little dog. A few people expressed joy at the fact that they could have brought their own dog, saying next time they would! As long as you keep your dog in a crate/ floor bed i.e. not in their beds, all is well. Ideal place for walking, beautiful beaches and such lovely friendly people. It was great to hear Gaelic being spoken so freely. Food is so good we just toured by day and went back for our meals at night. This place is the local hub for entertainment by night and I was worried because I have stayed places where we couldn't sleep with the noise....not so here, once we went to bed we never heard a sound! Standard of service remained high despite a major function taking place while we were there. Great for families.

Room Tip: we stayed at the back of the hotel and didn't hear a sound...music was played till 2:00am!

We booked this hotel on hotels.com and went B&B. We had never been to this side of Ireland and needless to say, it is a long way from anything. If you are looking to relax and get away from it all, this is the place to go to. Great family run hotel. Mary the owner went out of her way to be helpful. Room was basic, but had what you need for a nights stay. The whole place is very clean and we had a few pints and lunch there. Dinner runs €30.00 per person for a 3 course meal, we opted out on that one. Breakfast was good and had many choices. WiFi is good downstairs, but we got nothing in our rooms on our laptop or the 2 phones we had with us. We had room 312 and stayed on Sunday Oct. 27th, 2013 as a romantic get away.

A real find in the heart of connemara. Excellent service and a homly atmosphere. Excellent food especially fish of the day. One sign of this being an excellent hotel was how the service and quality did not change when hotel filled up at weekend for TV programme recording.
Sunset over Carna harbour was magnificent. Only a short 1km detour off main road well worth finding.

This hotel was ideally placed for the area of Galway we wanted to explore. Some members of staff went out of their way to see that we had all that we needed and did their very best to ensure we enjoyed our stay - which we did. A special thank you to Patricia and also, the cheerful young man serving in the bar.

The only real problem was the extremely uncomfortable bed. There were big dents in either side of the double mattress, with a hard ridge in the middle. After the first night we stripped the bed and turned the mattress over, in the hope that would help. It didn't and, having seen the mattress, it was patently obvious that it was many years old. We mentioned our discomfort to Michael and our mattress was changed for one from another room; unfortunately it was also lumpy. It was suggested that the mattress protector was the problem, but it was definitely the mattress.

The uncomfortable bed was the only downside and if you are only staying for one or two nights, this may not be a problem.

Everything else was good. The breakfast buffet offered a very good choice, to suit all tastes and the hot food was well cooked and well presented. I can recommend the porridge. We ate some evening meals in the bar and again, everything was well cooked and well presented. The chef(s) certainly take a pride in the food they serve.

This is an established, family run hotel and this is part of its charm. It is, however, in need of some TLC.

Whistle stop tour and happened on Carna Bay hotel. What a lovely place for the night and the food is only AMAZING!! Fresh fish, had to have the full 3 courses!!
Doesn't look over the beach/sea but the beaches close by are the most unspoilt white sandy beaches i have seen in a long time. Had a little dip this afternoon and it was unreal.. Lovely place to stay while visiting. Extremely clean and has that Ireland feel i know and love.
