“Excellent stay on Inishmore, thanks to Seacrest!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

I am so, so happy I chose the Seacrest for my stay in Inishmore. First off, this place is right off the pier where the ferry comes in. The walk is about 3 minutes, and it's perfect for walking to the bike hire, the cafe, the supermarket, the sweater market, and the pub... Yes, Inishmore is small, but some of the places I looked at to stay were way too far out for a single girl who was going to be walking everywhere, especially since there's obviously no street lights on the island and I didn't want to walk home from the pubs in the pitch dark. Anyways, the location of Seacrest is perfect, and you can't find nicer hosts than the ones you will have here. The B&B is well kept, the rooms spotless and inviting. I've been traveling around Ireland for over a month on my own and this was also probably the best shower I've had while in Ireland... You don't realize how much you appreciate water pressure until you're in twenty different b&bs that don't have it. This one did, luckily, and the breakfast was great too. Thank you to Geraldine and her husband- I will definitely we staying with you all again!

Had an over night stay on Inishmore, received a warm welcome from Geraldine at the Seacrest. Spotless accommodation in a great central location and a wonderful breakfast provided the next morning that will set you up for a day exploring the Island.

My family and I stayed at Seacrest during the coldest spring Ireland has had in 50 years. This may be the reason or rooms were so cold -- apparently it's hard to keep the heat in.

Nonetheless, Geraldine runs a spotless B&B right int he heart of Kilronin about 10 minutes' walk to the ferry and 2 minutes' walk to a Spar grocery stores. The B&B has a nice patio a large lounge/eating room, and about 6 basic but spotless bedrooms. The bathrooms had showers, as far as I could tell, but you need to bring in the hand soap from the sink unless you've brought your own.

Geraldine goes out of her way to make a delicious breakfast and is very helpful with any questions about what to see, etc...

As other reviewers have mentioned; her husband, Thomas, drives a pony and trap (horse and buggy) and can take groups on a fascinating tour of the beautiful island. I highly recommend it especially if you have children who may be too young or whiny to ride the 9 miles or so around the island.

PROS:
Excellent location in the heart of Kilronin
Sweet owners
Charming buggy ride available
Very clean

CONS:
I thought it was a bit over-priced considering how simple the rooms were
If it's cold outside, it seems to be cold inside
The ferry from Rossaveal was bumpier than we'd expected and some people in my family were pretty seasick -- be prepared if you get motion sick.

I spent a night in the Seacrest in March. The location is excellent as its literally a 5 minute walk from the ferry and central for most trips etc on the island. My room was warm and comfortable and I was very happy with same. Breakfast was excellent and substantial, with homemade brown bread and Geraldine the owner was very helpful and welcoming. The only negative comment I would have is that there was no kettle/tea/coffee facilities in the rooms, but Geraldine made tea and a snack for us mid afternoon when we came back to the house. I will be staying here again when I go back to InisMor

We stayed 2 nights at Seacrest B & B. It is located within easy walking distance of the ferry and everything in Kilronin, the main town on Inis Mór which is the largest of the Aran Islands. The B & B has a large stone patio in front, with comfortable wood tables and chairs ideal for lounging and watching the tidal basin and the flow of island life. What we appreciated most about Seacrest was the host family: Geraldine, Thomas and daughter Niamh. The family was wonderfully warm and friendly in their hospitality and efforts to make our stay pleasant. Geraldine was very helpful with a problem we had -- what she did for us went way beyond what we ever expected. Thomas is one of several islanders that you can hire for horse-drawn wagon tours of the island. Thomas went out of his way to share with us his wealth of knowledge about Inis Mór history and its people. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour Thomas provided. The tour horse, Johnny (as in Cash), is a character himself!
Keep in mind that accommodations and facilities on the island tend to be more rustic/basic than on the 'mainland.' What you come to Inis Mór for is not elegance, but rather the splendid scenery, the built remains of past peoples and the flavor of present day island life. Inis Mór has several wonderful sand beaches and many structures from early Christian and pre-Christain years that are well preserved. A notable example is the incomparable Dún Aenghus which dates from at least 500 BC -- a very dramatic looking stone fort perched on the edge of a high sea cliff.
Our Seacrest room was comfortable, if small. The beds were comfortable and clean, the bathroom was clean though on the small side. Towels were changed daily. Our room had windows that opened and allowed good ventilation. A door separates the bedrooms from the lounge/dining room area and kept the bedroom area quiet. We are 'picky sleepers' and we slept well at Seacrest. The lounge is spacious with large armchairs and sofa, TV set and DVD player. The dining area is filled with natural light from the overhead skylights. The breakfasts had a good variety of hot and cold choices and Geraldine was flexible in meeting our food requests.

We stayed with Geraldine and she was so gracious. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect, close enough to the pier to have stores, pubs, and bike rentals be within easy walking distance, but far enough away to be quiet. Breakfast was wonderful. We wish we had planned on two nights instead of just one. We plan on returning.

Ms. Geraldine was a wonderful hostess. We stayed two nights and enjoyed ourselves. A short walk from the ferry dock (almost everything is) and central to the pubs and all else aroung the ferry. Geraldine was very helpful, friendly, and had good advise about the island. all in all a most excellent stay.
