“Good value small hotel in Dublin suburbs”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

This place is a good choice if you want somewhere that offers good value, and you do not require (or want) to be in the centre of Dublin. It has good links to Heuston, Connelly and Busaras on the LUAS, and a direct bus service to Dublin Airport. City Centre is 35-40 minutes on LUAS.

Rooms are clean, comfortable and contain a small room fridge and safe which is a nice touch. Free WI-FI works well. Rooms facing on the Main Street are. a bit noisy at night, but if that bothers you, ask for one of the rooms facing the back, which are quieter. It can get a bit noisy when the disco is on at the weekends.

I recently had my 21st Birthday in the abberley court hotel, i have to say the syaff were brilliant and very helpful, Karen arranged everything to the detail. They catered for us in every way, when the party started Shane was there the whole night to help with anything we needed, then when we got into the nightclub Damien was at hand. I stayed in the hotel with my whole family, we booked over 25 rooms and some apartments. the next morning we all went down to breakfast which was lovely you can also get the breakfast to take away which was great. When enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant and I used my advantage card, when booking in apply for one you get 10% off your meal and there are other offers too x

We stayed at the Abberley Court for two weeks in July/August. I had known the hotel from when I used to work locally years ago. I knew how far Tallaght is from the city center and also about road links to the countryside.

We'd stayed in a terrible hotel in Manchester previously and were a bit nervous about having booked a 2 week stay in a hotel we didnt really know with regards to the rooms. What a relief when we got into our room. It was nicely furnished and decorated with pine furniture and warm colours. A lovely, spacious room with a small fridge for our own drinks/snacks, large TV, DVD player, desk and a small table and chairs. Views over the Wicklow mountains included! We had planned to see Dublin which was easy thanks to the Luas tram service (although the journey does take a good half hour or so) and the M50 and therefore all the motorways are easily accessible from Tallaght. The free parking was in the new multistorey parking opposite where the top two levels are reserved for hotel guests. It was perfect for us as we had planned to do daytrips into Dublin aswell as the surrounding countryside.

The staff was helpful and friendly. We only had one meal in the hotel, a Sunday lunch. It was fine, not the best we've ever had but it was definitely ok.

The Square shopping center is only a couple of minutes walk away, plenty of places there to grab a quick snack or do some shopping. Also just around the corner of the hotel is a largish convenience store that sells bakery products and sandwiches made to order. Next to it is a Blockbuster (handy for the in room DVD player) and next to that is a laundry service. So basically all you could wish for on your door step. The Indian and Chinese restaurant next to the hotel are very good, fast food in the shopping center, sandwiches in the convenient store. For anything else you'd probably have to travel a little further.

All in all we had a fantastic 2 weeks and saw lots of amazing places! I would definitely stay at the Abberley Court again, especially when bringing a car and planning on exploring a little bit further than just Dublin.

I will start with positive, the front desk staff were extremely nice, couldn't do enough for us, or give directions. The apartment we rented is situated across from hotel that made it extremely convenient to request items or problems, which we did not have many. Upon arrival we noticed how cheap the apartment was built. Laminated floor melted behind sofa, mack tac on cupboards curling, but other wise it was okay especially we were given 3 bedroom when we had booked 2 bedroom. There is a huge mall a block away with a Tesco and other grocery stores. The price was comparable to anything in Dublin but lacked the atmosphere. You could of been in any North American city suburb, the structures had none of the charm of Ireland. You also had to travel quite a way to get to Dublin on the Luas, it was the last stop or the first one depending on your position. I also think it might be a little more boisterous at night on that line. We never traveled past 7:pm so I can't verify but one tour guild did mention it could be a little rough in the evening. For the cost of the Luas (16 euro for the 5 of us) or taxi (25 to 35 euros) we might have upgraded our accomodation had we known. When we arrived the welcome book gave a list of things to do on departure. There was a long list, any unwashed dishes was a 25 euro charge let alone anything else. The internet hardly worked in our suite cutting out for most of our stay not sure why could of been the location of suite. I had requested a rear facing suite as I had read previous reviews stating loud music from hotel bar across the way. We had left our universal adapter in wall in living room, we immediately contacted desk staff, they were fantastic and assured us it would be left at desk for us. When we went to pick up it wasn't an adapter but extention adapter and since the apartment was not rented in our absence it should of still been there right? Wrong, the head of housekeeping looked in all appropriate places but came up empty handed and red faced, she did try very hard and I am grately for that. Management did say they would either send if located or reimburse but so far have not heard from them.

I really don't know where to put this place. We stayed here for 6 nights - my parents (in their 60s and myself in 30s) We decided to rent out the apartment for the week which to be honest was a good idea all round.
Why I would recommend this apartment:
1. Location - it is the last stop on the red LUAS to city centre dublin. It is also close to all amenities - a shopping mall, Tesco, Dunes, cinema, restaurant - all these walkable distance.
2. Incredible staff - they were quick to respond, incredibly helpful and very very nice
3. Really nice and comfortable good size room
4. A decent kitchen and lounge equipped with all usual stuff - glass, plates, utensils
5. Diswasher with 2 cleaning tablets and a washing machine and tumbledry provided. Kettle and toaster and even iron and ironing board.
6. A dispenser soap available in bathroom and towels included.
7. Free car park space in 5th and 6th floor next to the apartment
8. The apartment has a patio with chairs and table so you could sit outside and on a good day you get the view of the entire mountain ranges. We had a really hot day and felt as if we were next by the sea with sun and wind and all windows and doors open. Lovely.
9. Ideal base if you are touring around with car as easy access to motorway and similary driving to Dublin city centre takes about 20 mins.
10. Wonderful bed which are comfortable, clean and spacious room
11. Big LCD tv with lots of channel and big 2 x 2 leater seater sofas in lounge. There's also free wi-fi (refer below)
BUTS
1. The apartment is ok once you are in out - outside it looks as if the builder just basically can't be bothered to finalise the finishing touches to the job e.g. hanging bits of wire, doors looked as if it's been vandalised
2. I felt as if I had to keep going backwards and forwards to the reception to complain for things (albeit it get done instantly) e.g. the washing machine didn't work (and it was fine when it got sorted as we did washing twice and very clean and dry), the toilet door didn't lock, the water took ages to drain - almost as if you are reporting little things that are not right
3. Missing things in the flat - like cooking knives, end up using own.
4. Towels needed changing - had to go down and tell them
5. Wireless was rubbish so internet connection was adequate just to check things but you have to have the patience of a saint.
6. There are rubbish outside the flat not cleared.

It's a strange place as I did enjoy my stay but lots of snags. The staff were so helpful and apologetic that I can't fault them as it's clearly they don't know what each apartment has and has not. Also we felt that maintenance just patch things up as they go along which is a shame as the apartment is very very nice.. just shoddy workmanship on the outside. I didn't find the place noisy but we stayed across the pub and slept well all the 6 nights. We manage to cook and do some washing and a bit annoyed though there's hot water restriction between sometime between 0100 - 0600 so can't shower after 0100 as there's only cold water.
So do I recommend this? Yes if you don't mind going backwards and forwards asking for things as you do get them. Otherwise it is a good place to stay if you don't mind travelling into the city. It has lots of potential just wish the management would care for it a bit more then just make do as it is actually quite nice.

We booked this hotel through a hotel booking search engine and chose it due to the price really as staying in the centre is soooo expensive. We weren't expecting much given it only cost 80 euros for 2 nights, room only. We flew into Dublin airport and got the Flybus from the airport that drops you off right at the Tallaght Square shopping centre. We found the hotel easily thanks to friendly locals and were reassured we wouldn't go hungry as there are plenty of places to eat in the shopping centre, it is a 5 minute walk to the hotel and from the hotel to the LUAS station - a tram service that goes into Dublin city centre (4.40 euro return to centre). The receptionist was really helpful ad gave us maps and directions to the station. The outside did look a bit dubious from the back as we approached but once inside it is lovely. The room had a double and single bed in it - as we are a gay couple think the thought we were friends but it didn't matter to us. The shower was lovely and hot, flatscreen tv, fridge in room a nice touch. The bed and pillows were comfy, honestly cannot fault it. We were worried about noise from the inhouse disco but didn't notice it either night. If I was really picky the faint smell of cigarettes in the corridor wasn't nice but that happens with having smoking rooms in a hotel so can't be helped really. Would recommend this for anyone wantig to see Dublin but not spend loads on your bed, it is expensive enough to eat and drink as it is!

The Abberley Court Hotel is a good 3 star hotel located in the busy commercial and business district of Tallaght in Dublin city, just a 35 minute drive from the city centre.

The hotel consists of 40 comfortable ensuite guestrooms with are fitted with a TV, tea/coffee making facilities, a hair dryer and a phone.

Facilities at the hotel include an a la carte chinese called the Leaf Restaurant, 3 bars and a nightclub which is only open on Fridays and Saturdays.

When you stay at the Abberley Court you're within walking distance of one of the country's biggest shopping centres &emdash; the Square, which also has a 10 screen Cineplex and a bowling alley. There is also a nice park closeby for you to explore. The area is very well served by public transport with regular bus connections (numbers 55, 65) to the city centre and a LUAS stop close by the hotel.

Directions

As you exit the city follow directions for Tallaght, take the N81. From here look for a road on the right called 'Belgard Road' and you'll see the hotel on the right.
