“Lovely setting, good food, and very pleasant attentive staff”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We have eaten at The Brick House twice in the last couple of weeks and have nothing but praise for it. On the first occasion we reserved a table on a Sat night for a family birthday meal and we were accommodated in the lovely private room upstairs, which gives a sense of exclusivity, but is not completely removed from the buzz of the main restaurant. All of the adults ordered from the a la carte menu, while the teenager in the group ordered a mixture of tapas and starters with which she was very pleased - a major accomplishment. The quality and presentation of the food is excellent, from the incredibly tasty scallops to the perfectly cooked fillet steaks, along with the pan fried tuna steak and of course not forgetting the gorgeous chunky home made chips. The desserts are absolutely heavenly, and the coffee meringue, which seems to be a specialty of the restaurant, is melt in the mouth. We were unanimous in our praise for the restaurant and for the very attentive staff. My husband and I returned for another visit on a recent lovely sunny evening and we sat outside on the deck, taking in the beautiful views while we indulged in a glass of wine and a selection of very enjoyable tapas, typical of any you'd get in Spain. We moved inside to a table by the window as the evening grew chilly and ordered the fish and chips from the main menu. The kitchen had run out of hake which is apparently what they usually serve with this dish, but we were informed of this when ordering and offered fresh plaice as a substitute which we were happy to try. We were served a lightly fried fillet of plaice, with not even a hint of batter - beautifully fresh and full of flavour, accompanied by chunky home made chips and yummy mushy peas. We will definitely be back. The setting is lovely, the food is excellent and the staff are efficient, pleasant, and polite. A great addition to the harbour area in Skerries.

“Delicious food, beautiful setting and great service”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

The Brick House is situated at the harbour in the seaside town of Skerries, Co Dublin. During good weather you can sit outside on the terrace and watch the activity all around you. The tapas menu isn't large but it covers the most common tapa dishes. The portions are large enough to share, as you'd hope with a tapa, and are very tasty. For those nervous of ordering from a Spanish menu, fear not, the details are in English. The a la carte menu is fairly extensive. The food was nicely presented and we couldn't fault it. One of our (small) guests chose a tapa as a starter and a tapa with side order of hand cut, delicious, chips as a main course showing that the menu is flexible. Unfortunately the dessert menu didn't meet our tastes, so we did without, but others might find something suitable. I have been recommending this restaurant to people since the first of my three visits.

“Great combination”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Dropped into this place while out visiting Skerries one evening and strolling along the Harbour Road. Doesn't seem to have been open long but we were very pleased. We shared a fish carpaccio with watermelon slices and a lemon ginger dressing which was light and delicious. She had the fish and chips for a main course, which wasn't the usual slab of unidentified fishmeat in a brick of batter, but a lovely fillet in a super-delicate batter, along with chips, tartar suauce and very nice mushy peas. I had the burger which was generously sized and good quality, meaty rather than bready, well seasoned and in a light bun which didn't distract from the main event. We sat upstairs by the window and had a real treat of a view as the sun went down over the harbour. I'd say that it would be even better in winter when the wind and rain are beating off the glass. Service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and we weren't waiting at all. Apart from the bit of chat chat we really didn't notice the service, which is meant as a compliment!

All in all, well impressed, have recommended it and will continue to do so, and we'll defintiely be back.

“Very pleasant restaurant with delicious food.”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We had a very nice meal here last night- it was my 1st visit and I was pleasantly surprised. We had a choice of going for either an A la carte or tapas menu. We opted for the a la carte menu as it was a very cold, wet & windy night - we weren't disappointed with a wide variety to select from. The food was piping hot and service was efficient but not too fast. The atmosphere was really relaxed and chilled out but was quite chilly - they could have some heat on. I would like to visit this place again and try the tapas - they seemed to be very popular.
The only disappointment was the lack of choice of desserts, but I hear that the meringues are excellent.
