Myself and my partner took advantage of a romantic break offer to stay in Finnstown for one evening. It was fantastic. Despite the fact that there was a wedding on, the staff were very attentive, polite and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic - I can particularly recommend the scallops starter with dinner! We didn't have lunch or use the gym/ swimming pool.
We were not in the main building, which considering there was a wedding on was probably good. The room was lovely, very cosy and warm.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for any couples looking for a romantic break!

I attended a wedding here in February with my husband and we stayed in a room in the main house. The room itself was comfortable and clean, though there was not much of a view from the window. The hotel itself is pretty from the outside and their are fields around it. Beyond the fields are lots and lots of apartment blocks which takes away from the country house feel. The hotel itself is a bit "tired" and could do with some upgrading. Some of the old furniture is very impressive though.

Staff were mixed - some helpful some not. The bar staff at the wedding were under a lot of pressure, especially at the drinks reception, there was only one bar tender behind the bar - this made him quite short with customers. Reception staff were fine. Breakfast staff were ok - but not overly helpful and did not clear dirty tables or approach guests as they took a table to ask if they would like tea/coffee etc, they always had to be summoned.

Emailing this hotel is virtually impossible from all the email addresses on their website. I tried emailing several times months in advance of the wedding due to come special requirements but no one ever replied. I tried all the different email addresses on their website at different intervals. Edwina was one person who's email address is all over the site but if she still works there, she does not reply.

The food at the wedding was excellent.
The food at breakfast was standard.
The food in the lounge (lunch) was dreadful - I had the homemade burger.

We did not use the pool or gym facilities so I cannot comment on them.

Overall - mixed feelings about this hotel.

Room Tip: From what I saw, main house seems to be best.

We stayed for two nights with our 3 children. They loved the heated pool and the kids club. The staff were lovely and the food in the restaurant was wonderful. We could take the children to see and do lots of things in Dublin very easily. We will be going back....

Stayed in the main house for a few days in January and found it warm, cozy and comfortable. Even though it's now in the middle of suburbia, the lamplit drive up to the house and old-world interiors really make this place something special. The staff were all quite helpful and the drawing room and public spaces really charming with lots of fireplaces to curl up in front of. Ate in the restaurant multiple times and thought the food was divine! The continental breakfast is basic, but servicable. Dublin bus stops right in front of the hotel, but it will take a while to get to City Center. In my mind, that and the encroaching suburban sprawl are the only down sides to this hotel. Commuter rail stop is just a short walk out the back of the property.

Room Tip: I prefer the main house, as they seem a bit more elegantly decorated and since you then have easy ac...

will return to Finnstown again, lovely place to stay. Breakfast was great, the staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, especially well done to Freda, you are so helpful.
Loved the library rooms and the homely atmosphere.

Room Tip: residence suites have lovely space.

I have been staying at Finnstown for over 4 years and to me it's a little piece of home.

The staff are absolutely amazing, friendly and welcoming and really add to the experience of the stay.

The rooms are well equipped and there are a variety of options from the main house, to the residence to the family rooms so there is something to fit all needs. Should there be an issue or there is something you require just ask - the staff are more than happy to help.

There is also a variety of food options available from the bar menu to the Peacock Restaurant - portions are huge, but the food is good. The duck I love but make sure you have plenty of room!

Really can't fault this hotel - so glad our company puts us up here!

Room Tip: Depends on what you are after. Main House - Double beds with desk and en suite facilities, flat s...

The hotel was recommended to me by my business associates. I was able to get an excellent rate through a company agreement. The hotel is in a nice quiet area close to where I needed to be.

Breakfast was included in my rate and they had a very nice variety of choices on the buffet. The hostess for breakfast was a delight.

The room was an average size and had a very nice closet with shelves that was very usefull. The bath had a large tub that was a nice treat after a long flight.

I had dinner here one night and has a vegetable pasta with goat cheese salad. Excellent all around.

I had no trouble at all with wifi and my company VPN worked without a hitch.

Looking forward to my next stay.
