if you feel like you need a bit privacy and like run from the city, go there, in summer time there is a boat which you can use, great place for a family or romantic picnic

Dive, dive, dive, only way to go but I due suggest using a dive centre or dive with somebody who knows the location as currents are fierce.

Scenic views of Dalkey Harbour, Dalkey Park, Killiney and surrounding areas. A local historic place of beauty and interest. Loved it

Unfortunately unless you have access to a private boat there is no way of getting to the island currently but if you can get there, do!

No one lives on this island that was supposedly used as a Viking base.
Now all that remains is just the ruins of church and a Martello Tower. Supposedly there are some wild goats on it but I have not seen them lately from shore.

The best place to view Dalkey Island is either from Coliemore Harbour just down the road from the village of Dalkey, or from a public park (my favorite) just up the hill and road on the left from Coliemore Harbour. Head out to the rocks and if you are lucky you can spot bottlenose dolphins in the channel between the shore and the island. Great spot for a picnic.

There used to be a service that would take you in a very small boat from Bulloch or Coliemore Harbour, but that appears to have ceased at some point in 2012 due to some local regulations or controversy. It may not even be legal to actually set foot on the island without permission. Best to check with guy who rents boats at Bulloch Harbour for the latest on this as Coliemore Harbour is not a commercial harbor with any services.
