We have just returned from a Saint Patricks´weekend in Donegal. We spent three spledid days in Bunbeg House. The house itself is very cozy and clean. The decor make this house very warm. The rooms and common areas are spacious. The hotel owners are very friendly and attentive to all guest. So if you want a relaxing holidays or weekend I recommend 100% this excellent hotel.

Juan Pablo and Patricia.

We have just returned from a Golfing Week-End in Donegal. There were a group of 11 of us and we based ourselves at Bunbeg House which is ideally located and within easy access to a number of good golf courses in the area.
We played Dunfanaghy GC on Friday before booking into Bunbeg House late on Friday afternoon.
Saturday saw us at Cruit Island Golf Course (a breathtaking 9 hole course with one of the most spectatular Par 3 holes you will ever play, i.e. the 6th,) and to round off the week-end we played Ghaoth Dobhair Golf Course on Sunday morning.... Look out for the sheep.
As the holiday season was coming to a end there were very few tourists about and Andy (the owner of Bunbeg House) with his wifes permission of course ! bailed us out and made our numbers up to 12 so we could play 3 Fourballs on both the Saturday and Sunday. If Andy tells you he's not a good golfer and that he is only there to help make up the numbers, don't believe a word of it. The mans a shark.
The peace and tranquility of the harbour location where Bunbeg House is located is just the tonic for the morning after the night before which on both nights was spent in Huidi Begs at the top of the road. The food at Sean Ogs which is further up the town is both tasty and very reasonably priced and the service is excellent.
I can't recommend enough the Bunbeg House experience... it's uniqueness, it's laid back and easy going atmosphere, it's location, the rooms, the cleanliness, the breakfast, its value for money but most importantly the friendliness of the owners both Andy and Jean who couldn't do enough for us.
We will definitely be back again next year and would not hesitate in recommending the Bunbeg House as an ideal base for any group whether they be golfers, walkers, artists or whatever. Enjoy.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour facing room.

i've just returned from a short break in Bunbeg. Whist there I spent a night in Bunbeg house along with my boyfriend. We're both in our early forties and were looking for a quiet break away from our normally very busy lives. Bunbeg House was just the ticket gven it's spendid location and friendly atmosphere. Given the time of year there weren't many guests around but this just added to the relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were very spacious with tea & coffee making facilities & comfy beds. There was a bar but as it was the end of the season it was closed, this wasn't a problem as there were several welcoming bars all within short distance. The owner, Andy, was very friendly and makes a mean fry up!!!! We've already planned to go back once the season starts up again so we can experience it when the weather picks up. Last but by no means least the location is fantastic as it's right on the harbour with some amazing views. Thanks Andy for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to coming back next year

My friend and I stayed here for four nights about a year ago. Nicely situated by a small, picturesque harbor, we had a very good stay. The room we stayed in was quiet and near the back. Everything worked well, the owners were friendly and the breakfasts were good. Thankfully, unlike most B&B's the breakfasts are served until later, allowing those of us who like to hit the pubs and stay out a bit late a chance for a meal. The wireless was really only available in the lobby. Having it in the rooms would be a nice addition. Although Bunbeg is not as gorgeous as other areas of Donegal, it is quite nice, has some good local pubs with live music and is a good center for any excursions in the area.

Hi, my name is Suzy. A diver. Went to Donegal with my family for a weekend break. It was nice. Had a great time. We stayed in Bun beg House and received a great hospitality from the owners. Our 4 year old kid enjoyed it too. It's location is unique to it's self. Got everything close by for everyone. Rods are good to get around. At a same time it is tranquil and cosy. Breakfast is freshly cocked and nice.
Thanks Andrew for a nice tips and for welcoming us in a such an open way. :-)

Bhain muid Teach an Bhun Bhig amach thart fá a chuig a clog, cuireadh fáilte romhainn ag Bean an ti agus thaispeann sí ár seomra duinn agus sin d'fhág múid ár malaí insan áit agus chuaigh muid amach Bun Beag a fheicéail. An oíche sin d'fhill muid aris agus chodail muid go maith,Madin dár gcinn bhí ann bhricfeasta ann. Bhain muid ann- sult as. caithim a rá go raibh an áit iontach maith agus molaim an áit, mas rud é gur mhaith leat gaeilge a labhairt agus sos a bheith agat ó strus a' tsaoil. Cuireadh ann fáitle romhainn,

We arrived at approximately 5 pm on a Sunday to the B&B and were welcomed by both the "Bean an tí" (the woman of the house) and a tranquil view of the habour. Our room was on par for a 3* B&B. The place was dated, however, it was clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the harbour from our window (just ask when you book your room!). The small kettle and tea bags/milk was a nice touch in the room. But, the best part of the B&B was the the priopietor, Andy, who greeted us in the morning for our breakfast. We were served a most filling breakfast - tea/coffee, orange juice, toast/wheaten, ceral and then a FULL Irish breakfast! There is true Irish hospitality at this B&B, upon arriving, we realized we left an inhaler back in Belfast. the Bean an tí was most helpful in directing us to the night doctor based in Bunbeg. If your intention is to go to Donegal as part of the Gaeltacht experience, then this is a great place to stay. The Bean an tí and her childern are all fluent Irish speakers and are happy to chat with you! (However Andy is still learning!) Therefore, I would recommend you stay at this place and practice your Irish. Other places do not reply back to you in Irish (even if you are a fluent speaker!!) In terms of location, it doesn't get much better. You have an amazing view of the water, but at the same time you are close to the local pub (hudai beag's...great traditional Irish and Irish is liberally spoken) and there you can catch the ferry to Tory Island.
In terms of constructive criticism, some of the towels need replacing (worn, but clean), a fluffy duvet would go a long way, the outside light by the concrete steps was out making it a bit dangerous at night, and the water pressure was not great resulting in a weak shower and made flushing the toilet difficult.

Room Tip: This is a great place to practice your Irish! Not everyone in the Gaeltacht will engage you in Irish...

I travelled to Bunbeg with my wife and two sisters for a short holiday after the passing away of our dad. The house looked very appealing. We were met by the son who briefly showed us to our room. We found the shower in our bedroom was not working properly so we informed the son who informed us that his dad would look into it upon his return (he saw to it the next morning after we informed him at breakfast). The toilet cistern took 15 minutes to fill up and was noisy to the extent that we could hear it through the closed bathroom door. The rooms were spacious. The towels were threadbare and some had holes in them. Breakfast on the first morning was a typical Irish breakfast - very filling- but we had to wait 30 minutes after placing our order hence toast and tea were cold - these were delivered to our table after 5 minutes. On the second morning we had to leave early as one of my sisters took ill and we had to rush her by ambulance to Letterkenny Hospital - a distance of about 50kms. We were unable to have breakfast as we had to leave quickly. Upon paying the bill we were not even offered a slight reduction in our tariff for missing out on breakfast - our experience has shown that under the circumstances the reduction in tariff is very common in Ireland.
My ill sister left her glasses behind so when I informed the hotel to see if they could forward them on to us I was informed that I had to submit a stamped address envelope for that to happen. When I informed them that the least that they could do was for them to post it given that we had not received a reduction in our tariff it was met with ' well it is our policy.....' In other words you are no longer with us so do as asked or you will not get the glasses back!
Overall extremely disaapointing
