“Nice place directly at the harbour”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

First: The hotel was fully booked. So the owner gave us their small holiday house, which is directly beside the hotel at the old harbour of Bunbeg. So I can't write something about the hotel. The place would be really nice, but the holiday house was dusty and a little bit dirty. It wasn't cleaned before very well. Also the very old toilett in the ground floor smelled a lot. Fortunately, there's another toilett on the first floor. The stay was okay for one night.

Booked over Internet and got a shock when I arrived with my wife and 12 year old son . Standing in reception we debated where we in the right place .
After ringing bell a teenage boy eventually arrived and took our names and then disappeared downstairs again to check our booking while more guests arrived .
He returned to ask did we book under an other name and then disappeared again , to finally return with a key and directed us to our room .
The room was dirty and smelly and had spare beds stacked against the wall which he said he would have removed .
As we had travelled some distance i asked was restaurant opened , his reply was "what restaurant ,we have a tea room " I told him " it stated on Internet restaurant he shrugged his shoulders and said I can order you a taxi
We lifted our bags and left .
As we sat in car outside ,an other couple who was waiting in reception came out and put their bags in car and drove away

We went to Gweedore for the weekend to see Christy Moore and stayed one night in Bunbeg house. Although my boyfriend and I usually always stay in hotels instead of guesthouses, we tried this place and found it was really charming. From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and welcoming, we were shown straight to our room which was dated but was spotlessly clean and very spacious with the most beautiful view of the harbour. The breakfast the next morning was tasty and freshly cooked, altogether we had a really enjoyable weekend and found the staff extremely helpful and pleasant and the accommodation great value for money.

A beautiful harbour in North West Donegal, a friendly and warm welcome awaits you in this family run guest house. Good sized bed rooms with TV and ensuite. Very clean great view over the harbour a great place for a quiet weekend away from it all. Tradtional music closeby but probably need a car to get there although the owners offered to drop us off if we wished. A freshly prepared cooked breakfast and cereal each morning. We would go back there.

Room Tip: overlooking the harbour what a view
