So much potential, but poor management.
During our stay the bar area was full but only 1 member of staff was on (who did a very good job but was clearly feeling stressed). They were getting maintenance done on the bar floor and we could not talk to each other due to the hotel deciding to use power tools during lunch time.
Food was average at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We had booked in for a late check out to enjoy a lie in with coffee and tv- no channels were working and we were interrupted on 2 separate occasions by different members of house keeping who just walked into our room without knocking as there were obviously not made aware of our late check out. They were also doing maintenance work on the roof above our room so our indulgent lie in was out of the question anyway!
There was no hot water for a shower on our check out day and when I challenged reception about this, I was met with 'you should have called'! An entirely redundant response as we were leaving that day.

Great location with beautiful views from rooms 413 to 420 (uninterrupted view of river). I think we caught them on a very bad weekend so you should take this review with a pinch of salt. However, if I need to stay in Ballybofey again, I'll be staying in the Villa Rose.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us @ Jacksons Hotel. It is lovely to read of your relaxing experience with the doves in our landscaped garden with the waterfall and to read of your friendly experience with all of our staff who do their utmost best to ensure your stay is everything you could wish for. As you say we offer both traditional style rooms as well as new contemporary superior bedroom and just depending on each guests requests we can allocate you to either style of room
Once again thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us
Kind regards

I have just seen the most beautiful ballroom ever , while staying at Jacksons in Ballybofey Mike Denver was playing and he did not disapoint . The ballroom was the most spacious I or any of my friends have ever seen. The hotel was lovely the staff were brilliant so attentive and curtious . The food was amazing and to top it all off we had the pleasure of meeting Mr Jackson himself . So if you are looking for a relaxing time and to be treated like an old friend in a home from home setting remember to call at Jacksons in Ballybofey .

Group of over 20 women stayed here last weekend.
It was perfect - excellent deal (75 euros per person) for dinner, bed and breakfast and use of leisure facilities.
Hotel was buzzing, there was a wedding on and we were invited to join in the dancing/celebrations, so all had an extra fun night. Food excellent.
The hotel was clean, staff very accommodating and friendly, ad overall a very good experience.
(I have stayed here before and it is better suited to groups as opposed to a couple staying)

Room Tip: Rooms in new part are a good walk from reception, if this matters, ask for room in old part of hotel...

I love Jacksons Hotel, i've been going here for family holidays since i was a child and your made to feel so welcome, with its lovely homely atmosphere. Ballyboufey a quiet area so you can just go unwind and relax, jacksons itself has a great pool with sauna jacuzzi and heated baby pool which is just perfect, my baby was 7 weeks at the time and didn't want to leave it lol.
Theres a lovely Restraunt there and also a bar and louge area with wifi, it's also on the edge of the town which is great, and theres a dvd shop near by which is very handy. We had a room with a view of the river and you can also go for a lovely walk round it to.
My family used to take me here and it was great to take my own family now. it has never failed to let us down and hopefully we go for many more years brilliant place :)

We were booked into this hotel for 4 nights, when we arrived we were given a room and after unpacking we noticed that there was squeaky floors with views facing shops. I am a very light sleeper and like to go to bed early but my girl friend stays up late so having squeaky would only wake me. I contacted reception and they kindly gave us another room. When we got to the room again the floors squeaked and again the receptionist gave us yet another room. We were happy with this room until we realized that the door closer squeaked. We were too embarrassed at this time to contact reception again so asked a member of cleaning staff if they had any 3 in one oil that we could use on the door closer. She kindly found some but unfortunately it did not help. During the night there was a constant creaking of floor boards above our room sounding like an elephant crossing the room above. It was awful! I did not get any sleep that night. The second night, the same happened with the squeaky door and floor boards above, I later found out that we were underneath a corridor, hence the constant squeaking of floor boards from people walking up and down to their rooms! A row started at 4am among st some drunken people from the afters of a wedding, the language was appalling! Another night without sleep! I was so tired I could have cried! We asked to be moved yet a 4th time, we were kindly given a room on the 4th floor which was airy and lovely and quiet overlooking the lake. However, the oil tank must have been underneath us and the smell of fumes was awful.....Apart from all of the above, I must say the food was excellent, the breakfast was great and the evening meals were reasonable and cooked to perfection. All of the staff, were so helpful especially the cleaning staff and the man in reception. The rooms were very clean, the lovely cozy reception area with an open fire was very welcoming!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new part of the hotel...

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us @ Jacksons Hotel, Ballybofey.
I would like to thank you for your well balanced feedback in regards to your stay, it disapoints me that you did not ask to speak to a member of management to resolve your issues during your stay as we could have rectified the rooms and hence improved your overall experience during your stay. I thank you for the comments regarding our friendly staff and warm welcome with our fire at reception, we regarrd a warm Donegal Welcome with utmost importance and i am pleased you experienced same. We do hope to welcome you back in the future if your travels allow and in the meantime we will endeavour to remedy issue with sqeeky door and floor as we are undergoing continuous maintainance to rectify any issues

was here for two nights and have to say everything from the food to the service was excellent the room was to a high standard and very modern the only fault i have is that i over heard the owner give out to a member of her staff and was shocked that she gets away with speaking to staff like that the poor girl just stood their and let her she looked as if she was going to cry i was disgusted that any one would speak to their staff like that SHAME ON YOU MRS JACKSON

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us @ Jacksons Hotel, i am delighted to read you enjoyed our cusine prepared by our Executive Chef and out beautiful facilities and you credited us highly in all amenities and cleanliness which we take very seriously here at the hotel.
I am most confused and shocked to read your comment regarding a staff member being told off in front of a customer as this is just simply not something that would happen here at Jacksons Hotel, with HR policies in place we hold our staff in the highest of regards and having dicussed your review in detail with the Proprieter of the hotel we would ask that you please contact either myself or Mrs Jackson directly to discuss same as we take this accusation very seriously and would like to investigate it with you if you feel this is what happened during your stay. Staff will be given instructions as normal during their working day but if we ever experience any issues with personel this would always be dealt with in private with adhering to HR policies.
Once again thank you for taking the time to review your stay and i would urge you to please get in contact directly to discuss your comments in detail
Kind regards

I have been asked to write this review on behalf of my parents Jean and Robert who recently stayed for three nights in the Jackson Hotel. So here goes.......................
Welcome - Friendly, attentive reception staff. Well Done
Room - Spotless, comfy surroundings, great nights sleep.
Food - Excellent, quality and very generous portions, breakfast is worth waking up for.
Staff - Very friendly, open, approachable, with owners interaction on a daily basis something you don't always see these days.

Special mention to the House keeping staff who do a fantastic job !

Well worth a revisit...... hope next time they take me. So if you want comfort, good food, pleasant surroundings the Jackson Hotel is the place to visit.!
