a group of us visited here over the weekend we were blessed with the weather there but also the visitor centre and the bridge were so much more then we expected. there was so much to see and do we spent 3 hours there so the entry fee to the visitor centre was justified. will definitely be returning.

We were a little keen and were there before the place even opened in some very thick fog. Really glad we decided to go in anyway, the whole experience was amazing even in fog and a howling gale. The fog lifts pretty quickly giving a stunning view of the roiling Atlantic Ocean. The bridge is sturdy and seems to be open whatever the weather.

We drove from Bantry to Schull, which was a pretty village, through Goleen and along the beautiful scenic route to Mizen Head. It was freezing and blowing a gale at the Head. The Interpretive Centre was interesting as well as experiencing a lighthouse keeper’s accommodation, which wasn’t for the feint hearted. Neither was the Mizen Bridge which my husband forded in gale force winds and rain without a proper coat, a hat or gloves. It then poured with rain so we raced back to the cafe. People were enjoying home cooked food at very reasonable prices served by friendly staff.

We’d been here a few years before and indulged the great views and fresh air. This time we were thwarted by horizontal rain and high winds. The cafe was our sanctuary - exceeding expectations ! Padraig was a Star - ‘Happy Easter’ he said with a glint in his eye ! Good coffee and some very delicious cakes !
