The trip to the Mizen Head Visitor Centre is well worthwhile, but for a real treat you have to go through to the little museum, walk down to the Mizen Bridge, and walk on up to the Signal Station. The views are spectacular and well worth the walk and the climb back up some 99 steps! You can also walk down another path and more steps to almost see level for more wonderful scenery.

First of all, it is a lovely drive down to the visitor's centre. Had been here a number of times previously, but wasn't prepared to pay the fee to access the bridge to the signal station; didn't think it would add much to the experience, but I was wrong; the walk to the signal station is invigorating, and the views from the bridge itself are absolutely stunning, as are the views from the prow of the headland. The station itself is basic, but atmospheric.

This is breathtaking beautiful Ireland coastline, we went on a day that was exceptionally windy, so we were almost blown off the cliff, but it made for beautiful photos, the waves were huge!

with the new bridge and all the extra walks and paths around the head, it ha sbeen truned from a you should go to see Mizen to you MUST go to see mizen head. it is a long road to it but pack a picnic and the kids an denjoy the drive West Cork on a good day is as good as any where else in Ireland. The Visitor center is run by people who love to show off their County an dit helps add to the experence.

Have been down here twice recently, once with my son and once with my partner and both times had a fantastic time.Once we were down and the sea was like glass and the views were amazing, the next time we were down in a gale and the man on the bridge said they were almost having to close it up because of the wind but it was so elemental there and the wind could actually support your whole body weight, it was amazing.
They have done great work down there, the paths are all tarmac and smooth, no rough stony paths. Off the top of my head I cannot confirm if the whole attraction is wheelchair and buggy accesible but I would say that it is partially accesible, I think there is a possibility to use ramps instead of steps but probably better to confirm this before trekking down. Some steps leading down to magnificant views over the cliffs and sea. Interesting little displays on the history of the lighthouse and the sea area in general, also some stuff on Marconi and the first transatlantic radio broadcast. The only thing I would say is that the displays could do with a bit more explanation for families and kids, some are just a lot of boards with no real information on them. This place is well worth a visit and well worth the fee no mater what the weather, do not let the wind or the rain put you off
