We had a small casual wedding party with 12 people and what an ideal place to have it! Staff and management were fabulous, food was lovely and the view was spectacular! We couldn't have had a more perfect day!

Room Tip: Room 8 has a fabulous view!

Went to the hotel last week for food around 7.30pm,was told in a not too nice manner that there were no tables available.
I could clearly see tables vacant.

We certinaly wont be back if this is how they treat customers..

Sorry to hear about your bad experience at our restaurant. If you felt that you were treated badly i must apologise again.

I personnally remember you coming on Thursday the 26th of August. I am sorry we could not accomodate you. We had a group of 40 coming into the restaurant at 8pm for a function. All other tables were full at the time! Due to the success of our restaurant we tend to be busy most nights so we cannot accomodate everyone. If you rang beforehand we could have booked a table for you and your family. Most people reserve tables at busy restaurants! If we are full, we are full!
I do apologise again and hope you will give our restaurant another chance.

We have never enjoyed a hotel food and scenary like Barley Cove. The guys who run this hotel are the best in the business.Nomatter what we needed they obliged. They even loaned us body boards for our kids. The food we were served was absolutly topnotch including the kids meals which is quite unusual.I could not recomend Barley Cove beach hotel high enough!!!

The first thing to say about the hotel is that it must have one of the best locations of any hotel in Ireland. It looks down on one of the country's finest beaches and is surrounded by countryside that is perfect for walking among the low rolling peaks of Mizen and the sea cliffs at its edge.

But all that goes to make it a bit frustrating that the experience isn't better. The staff are friendly, but there seem to be few procedures in place. The price I was quoted at check in was €10 more expensive than the price I paid when I checked out. At least it went the right way!

And there are a few small things that could make the hotel so much better. The lights in the corridors are switched of in the day time, but that does not allow sufficient light (especially around rooms 1-4); if saving electricity is that important, get lights with motion detectors or switches that can be operated by guests, but which time out. The curtains are so light that they may as well not be there when the sun is streaming in early morning. The carpets in the corridors desperately need cleaning.

One plus that I would give it was the breakfast, which was one of the better ones that I have experienced in an Irish hotel lately.

Other than breakfast, we didn't eat there opting for the nearby Heron's Cove in Goleen instead.

If you aren't after great luxury and want a reasonable price for the location, then the hotel should be an option for you.

It was our first time down there, and we loved the place, the kids especially. It's nice and relaxed. Didn't feel the need to get dressed up, we could go for a drink in our shorts and flip flops. And the views were divine. The kids loved the beach, so to have it on the doorstep was great. There was a small problem with one of the blinds in the room, but it was sorted out by the staff while we were at the beach. And the food in the bar was excellent. They turned on the golf for my husband as well, so he was delighted. Found the place easy going, and very friendly.

We stayed here in August and found this to be a nice hotel. There was a mix-up with our booking and we got upgraded to one of the apartments next to the hotel. The apartments are fabulous, with a great view over a spectacular beach. The beach is lovely and Crookhaven is an absolute gem of a place. The hotel is around 4 miles from Crookhaven though, and there is nothing else around, so it is quite isolated. There are buses going in the evening every hour or so, so it's not too bad. We didn't eat in the hotel, but the restaurant /bar was one area that didn't look great. All in all, it's a nice hotel in a beautiful location, but if I were going back, I'd probably try and find somewhere in Crookhaven village.
