“Royal Stay”

I was part of the extended family trip that "ontheroadagain1434" wrote about. I whole heartily agree with what was written about our stay at Ballyhannon. Ballyhannon Castle was in the middle of our 10 day trip to Ireland. We had a fabulous time and will forever remember the our medieval Castle. The Castle and Coach House provided accommodations that all 17 of us thoroughly enjoyed, and we range in age from 75 to 10 years old. The location was perfect and so easy to get to. Margaret was a wonderful host, and very helpful. One of the bonuses of the Castle were the kitchen facilities, especially when there are 17 in your group. We were able to have breakfast at the castle every morning, pack picnic lunches and even managed a dinner for all. Your visit to Ireland should include a stay at Ballyhannon Castle.

We stayed at Ballyhannon Castle and Coach House for three nights between Christmas and New Year's as part of a trip to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary. We had 17 family members across three generations, ranging in age from 10 to 75 (9 kids, 8 adults). The children were enchanted (as were the adults) from the moment we drove up the drive at dusk, with the castle tower lit. One of the kids said "Hello, castle, I will love you forever." They were more excited once inside, as the decor is cozy yet offers all the romance you could want from the experience. The rooms were warm and beautifully appointed, and the long, winding, damp, see-your-breath stairwell conjured up what life in a castle must have been like before all the amenities that are now seamlessly embedded into Ballyhannon. The coach house was really comfortable, and all we could want for a group our size was at our fingertips. Margaret was a great help throughout the planning process, and went the extra mile by arranging for musicians to play for us one night, as well as by making us a lovely Irish stew, AND tracking down a local photographer to photograph the group the morning of our departure. She then handled getting the photos to us. Her assistance and willingness to take on these "extras" made my life so much easier, since it was a big enough job to get 17 people from 3 different cities to Ireland and housed, fed, and transported from place to place! The musicians were terrific, as we all gathered in the castle's great room by the fire and sang and danced and learned (or tried to learn) some new steps. Since our return, the family members have all commented on it having been the experience of a lifetime, which it truly was. We took advantage of the riding stables next door, which was a fun excursion. The kids in particular enjoyed talking to the kids from the stables who guided them across the fields, they really liked making that connection. We explored the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, Bunratty Castle, and had dinner in the nearby village of Quin. The castle won't disappoint. I hope we can return someday! Thank you, Margaret!

I stayed at Ballyhannon Castle for four nights over the New Year weekend with a large group of friends. We rented both the castle and coach house. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.
The Castle is amazing, maintaining original features, and at the same time providing very comfortable accommodation. The bedrooms are large, warm, and beds are very comfortable. The living room is fantastic, there was enough room to accommodate 20 people, with a large fireplace to keep warm, and a tv and sound system provided. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of seating next door in the banquet room, with it's own suit-in-armour and tapestries on the walls. There is tonnes of parking space also

The Coach House is more modern than the Castle. It is very spacious, the large living area/kitchen and adjoining conservatory provide the perfect place to entertain a group of any size, and a large bbq area at the rear overlooks the very large garden. The bedrooms are very comfortable, and all immaculately clean.
The nearby town of Quin is lovely, with nice pubs and good food. The area is surrounded by historical sites, so it would serve as a perfect base to go exploring

Overall, Ballyhannon really impressed our entire group. Our expectations were high, but they were blown away by our experiance here and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I will definitely be returning

I rented Ballyhannon Castle to propose to my now Fiancé!

I couldn’t imagine a better place to have created this everlasting memory.

A huge thanks has to go to the owner Margaret who helped set an incredibly romantic ambiance with tee lights all the way up the winding castle stairs, flowers and music. Not to mention she became my confidante as she was the only person who knew my intentions and her help and enthusiasm added greatly to the organisation and execution.

No words can do justice to how spectacular Ballyhannon Castle is. But if I was to try.. The first thing that struck me was how genuine the castle looked, felt and is kept. It is absolutely stunning. The bedrooms are luxurious and comfortable and there is a fantastic sitting room with a magnificent fire. The dining hall would make you feel like a king!

The only way to truly appreciate Ballyhannon Castle is to go there! There’s lots to see and do around too.

Couldn’t recommend it enough, absolutely flawless.

We are both back to the real world again, which sucks, but we would again like to thank you for your helpfulness, professionalism and friendliness in the build up to the wedding and on our arrival at the castle. What you did with the candles was amazing and it really added to the surprise factor!! We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more and we will recommended it to anyone who will listen :-) The perfect honeymoon spot, a once in a lifetime experience

I am sure both Russell and Helen were able to tell you both how much the weekend meant to them but we didn't want the weekend to finish. The venue, the setting, the food, the atmosphere and the band were just fabulous and it was the best wedding I have EVER been to. I would like to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your help, support and enthusiasm in making their dream become a reality. The candles up the staircase made us all cry - buckets!
