Stayed for one night on local business. Great value and serves exactly what needs required. Good variety on food menu and rooms a little dated but clean and comfortable. Nice setting on the lake. It's not the Ritz but does not claim to be and does not charge the same.

Walk into a world of mahogany, dark wood furniture and panelling. Heavy gilt framed pictures adorn every wall and the eclectic mix of statues and bronzes celebrating horse racing, greyhounds and the female form make a somewhat different backdrop for a photo call!
After booking in with the friendly front desk , you will find your comfortable room continues the same mahogany retro theme, Tea/coffee making, TV and en suite bathroom facilities complete the picture.
The evening menu offers an adequate choice, with coeliac option on request, and all our meals were enjoyed and well presented. Attentive and friendly staff overall were an added bonus. After a good night's sleep and a hearty country breakfast, a stroll along the lakeshore is a must.
In short, a fine place for a pleasant relaxing short break

We chose this hotel for an overnight stay as a break from family life, so after a 2 1/2 hour drive all we were looking for was a nice relaxing evening with of course undisturbed sleep. Unfortunately the room we where allocated was only feet away from the entrance and although had a stunning view of the lake, we were also in full view of anyone who sat outside for either a drink or a smoke. Considering there was no voile etc on the windows we felt that we had no privacy whatsoever unless we pulled the heavy curtains! The staff however at this hotel are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food also was top notch and we would highly recommend 10 oz steak on a stone! After our dinner we retired to our room. At 3.35am we were awakened with a very loud humming sound and the banging of the main corridor doors, shortly followed by a sound that made us turn on the lights. What we discovered was water pouring through the ceiling by the door and wardrobe covering my coat in cloudy water. There was a quick response from the receptionist and the water soon stopped but the noise continued on and off until 4.55am. Needless to say we felt completely wrecked when we went for breakfast. On checking out it was acknowledged that we had a problem during the night and staff apologised but unfortunately we didn't feel that it would be a place that we would recommend for a little break away from busy family life.

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last two months. The second time I arrived this week the receptionist remembered my name. When I stayed in March I was accompanied by my aunt and they made us so welcome, even setting a table by the fire in the lobby for us to have our meal. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and efficient.

Room Tip: Both times I stayed I was given a room with a lake view and I would recommend the view

My husband and I stayed 2 nights B&B on a Groupon voucher : 3rd/4th April 2013 and we would recommend that anyone considering staying should proceed with caution. Basically our review is mixed veering towards very negative and we agree with several comments already specified under the terrible reviews. However, staff were friendly and helpful and room good but no wifi, terrible smell in foyer, glass and cutlery cleanliness poor, etc.

However the real deal-breaker is the fact that someone hit our car sometime between Wed night and Thurs morning. Long-story-short , having flagged up the issue and requested camera footage, and after several emails which have been ignored, we havewaited 16 days which has resulted in nothing!? We had to get the car repaired and they ignored the proposition of paying half(£90). Cameras are displayed at the entrance and there was no disclaimer re parking, SO BUYER BEWARE, as the old advice goes.

My wife and I spent a weekend at this lovely hotel. The staff were so nice and friendly and could not do enough for you. When we arrived and checking in the staff made us feel welcomed from the very second we walked through the door. The food was lovely and the steak on hot stone was fantastic. The ice cold beer was so good. The hotel room was very nice, clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was brilliant. We had a really good time and we would go back. Thanks guys

Just back from our second stay here on a Groupon deal. Had a ball last time and weren't disappointed this time round either. We upgraded to a Lake view room and it was defintely money well spent for 10 euro a night - we hit lucky with the weather and the view was stunning from the balcony. If you are looking for 5 star facilities etc you'll be disappointed but if you want a beautiful setting, a warm welcome and staff who treat you like one of the family, then this is the place to come for a relaxing stay. The bar\restaurant is cosy, the food's good and the Guinness is even better - what more could you want ?
We'll be back.

Room Tip: A lakeside room is definitely worth going for.
