“Calm market”
Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

I had expected to be attacked by sellsmen, but this market was actually really nice to visit. None was pushy and it was not crowded at all. The place was clean and we also took a coffee break inside the building. they sell all kind of things including coffee, paintings, cigars, wood art, bags, etc etc...

“Great selection”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Best place to stop for crafts! Great selection and most prices were negotiable. I bought paitings for less than $20 each that were beautiful! Would recommend at least 2 hours to walk through the entire market

“Nice sized market - good selection - vendors not pushy”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Masaya is a very nice town - friendly and more laid back than Granada. The market is very clean and not as claustrophobic as some can tend to be. The vendors aren't pushy and perfectly content to let you look around. Nice crafts and the usual collection of tee shirts, etc.

“Enormous Craft Selection”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We stopped at this craft market as part of a two-day tour to Nicaragua and it was quite nice. We had an excellent lunch and were then assigned a guide to take us through a myriad of craft shops. The place is huge, very clean and the people are extremely polite. It's much like a lot of the craft markets you see in Mexico, but without the pushy vendors. The selection is huge. No one speaks English other than your guide, so you tell him if there's something you're particularly interested in and he'll take you to a shop that sells it. There seemed to be a big selection of cigars that I haven't seen in other places. This was a nice stop on our way to Granada.

“lots of crafts to choose from”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

This is the Mercado Viejo, the old market of handicrafts, housed inside old walls.
There is a lot of selection of crafts here at decent prices. Best I saw in Nicaragua. You can do all your Nicaragua craft shopping here. Vendors not pushy, most nice enough.
I parked my rental car without incident on the long sides of the market. On the short west side touts will want to 'guard' your vehicle.
