Very very rude, unhelpful front desk staff. Pregnant bartender who doesn't talk to anybody. Shower is very small. Rooms also small and kind of shabby. Only positive aspects are proximity to Market Square and free Wifi (which is slow).

Public Bus Stop in front of the hotel, which is not necessarily a bad thing; however, MANY people gather in front of the hotel entrance (all day and night) who apparently live at the homeless shelter one block from the hotel (I know this because I asked the front manager). If you don't mind walking through clouds of cigarette smoke and people begging you for money, this hotel is for you. If you are travelling with kids or anyone who might be intimidated by these folks at their doorway, I would choose another hotel.

Room was clean, but tired looking. Staff was friendly.

Booked a King room and the bed was very worn and lumpy. Stained sheets and the pillow was yellow with who knows what so I ended up sleeping without it. Bar was small and service was not there. the food in the restaurant was so bad that I went down to Gay street to eat something that I didn't think would make me sick. After searching a local TV station's restaurant reports, I found that I had made the right choice!

This is by far not a four star property. My wife and I stayed in a room on the executive floor; non-smoking room; The room and the entire floor smelled like a smokey bar; very tiny bathroom; towels appeared were worn out and tattered; the bed sheets were worn out and very scratchy; wall mounted TV was extremely fuzzy; amazingly no mini fridge in room; ice maker was not working on floor; window unit was exremely loud and noisy; One morning we were woken up by a loud dog barking in the next room.

Pros: Breakfast was nice; parking was very convenient; location is plus plus. Fitness very nice and modern. This hotel is simply outdated and way past its prime. Don't waste your money on this hotel if you are looking for anthing but a place with a bed.

Stayed here just one Saturday night to attend a concert at the historic Tennessee Theatre and couldn't have been happier. We chose this hotel because they allow dogs and we wanted the option to keep her in case the boarder didn't work out. (It did.)

Checkin was smooth. We did get a room facing the train tracks, but we never heard a thing. There were tons of dining options within easy walking distance, as well as the theatre. Room was clean with large TV and comfy bedding. Buffet breakfast was only $8.50 and had tons of options. Parking was $5.

Our govt rate ($83) was worth every penny.

The hotel is in a good location downtown. The free Trolley stops right in front of the hotel and the market district is across the street. The hotel staff was great, very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff took care of our every need. The food in the restaurant was a little pricey, but the breakfast was reasonable - and good.
The bad - noise! On the back side of the hotel is train tracks and there can be trains going all night. That is what happened our first night there, not very much sleep. When I asked to be moved to the front side of the hotel they told me that the noise from the fire station down the street was worse with sirens running all night. Another guest told me the same thing. Also the guest next store was up at 5:00 am with their TV on which sounded like it was in our room, so the walls must be pretty thin and the layout of the room is such that the tv next door is up against the wall where your bed is.
The pool was not very nice either, and it was in the gym. There was no whirlpool, where the whirlpool once was there was plants in it.
I thought the hotel was nice and the staff was great which would make this a five, but because of the noise problem I would only rate a three. They do give you ear plugs which helps. If your a light sleeper look elsewhere, if you can sleep through anything - enjoy.

Overall value was good, staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, great work out facility, and room had new mattress, bedding and flatscreen. Negatives are, if your looking for great design/architecture, this is not the place. Very cookie cutter layout of rooms and facilities, and the bathrooms were very small.
