The good part is that the location is hard to beat, as it is walking distance to most of downtown. Also, overall it is a perfectly fine hotel in that it is clean and safe. But it is dated in areas and has some oddities. The bathroom was clearly remodeled, and was nice, but the shower was a good six inches above the floor - you feel like you're standing on a stage. Odd, but acceptable. The room also had a weird window set up - it was a set of narrow windows that overlooked the HVAC unit.
Go elsewhere for breakfast - the buffet just isn't that good.
As for service, we had a bit of an issue when we checked in. We were there for a wedding and apparently I booked a room with two full beds. Obviously my wife and I preferred a queen or king. I'm not going to say that it wasn't my fault, but at the same time, their reaction and attitude were a bit surprising. I'm a frequent business traveler and have Gold status with IHG - and have been platinum in the past. They were insisting that they couldn't give me a king or queen without an upcharge. I tried to point out that the hotel having to take care of one bed instead of two beds seems like not a bad deal for the hotel. I also pointed out that if they have rooms available for that night, what does it matter if we get one with a queen bed or two full? In the end, they were willing to give us the room we preferred, but I was taken aback by their reluctance to make a guest happy with a fairly simple request.
One VERY important note - there is NO ELEVATOR FROM THE GARAGE! If you have some serious luggage, park out front and bring it in, then park your car. We ended up walking several suitcases up around the corner from the garage.
