“Old hotel that needs some help”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

This is an old Hyatt that Marriott purchased several years ago. I used points to stay there. Paying for the room would have been disapointing. I had a suite that was outside access to a balcony. The door did not seal well which let in road noise. The staff was great however and made a platinum Marriott member feel great. This hotel badly needs updating if Marriott plans to keep it. Good enough for a short stay, ballgame, whatever. Not much more.

Room Tip: Don't get a room with outdoor access. Very noisy.

After a long 12 hour day of driving and late arrival I was finally able to fall asleep around midnight. I was awoken by houskeeping at 7:00 am asking me if I was checking out. I replied NO, I was checking out later...then replied are you sure? REALLY...Once the sleep cycle is broken it is extremely tough to get back to sleep. I mentioned it to the front desk as they were looking around me to help the next customer.

We recently stayed two nights at this facility during a very difficult family experience. It was great to retreat to our room and be enveloped in total comfort. We ate a late dinner at the bar on our first evening there and the service could not have been better. The food was outstanding. The next evening, after another very trying day, we decided on room service. The meal, the delivery, the ordering, were all handled efficiently and in a timely manner. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. The food was outstanding. Thank you Knoxville Marriott.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the river side of the hotel...beautiful views of the mountains!

We stayed with our 2 teenage boys for a UT game and this Marriott knows how to take care of their guests! We arrived for check in and there was a cash bar set up in the lobby. We dove to the game, evn though the hotel is 1.6 mikes from the campus. After the ame, we were greeted by hosts and hostesses diecting us to the restaurant. Kelsey a hostess immediately took our drink order and then Ms. Stephanie took our order. We watched the west coast games until almost 1am!!! The boys had a blast! There was a huge LCD projection in the lobby. We had the breakfast buffet the next morning and it was great!

So, the hotel rooms may be a bit dated and there is not LCD flatscreen, but we didnt care! What the rooms lacked in the updates the hotel and staff make up for in throwing a great football party!!! We have stayed at the Hilton for a game and we would definitely stay at the Marriott again! Thank you to your staff for fantastic service!

We stayed for a non-game weekend for a fall getaway. Room was on the 9th floor with a city view. The room was larger than most in this class and was neat and clean. We had no issues with water pressure as reported by some other reviewers. The bed was comfortable and we had a great time with no issues. This hotel was originally built in 1972 as a Hyatt Regency and is just as I remember it as an architecture student at UT in the mid 1970s. The exterior is exposed concrete in a brutalist style which has gathered some dirt over the past 40 years but still looks good. The crticism by some reviewers on this hotel's cleanlinness and condition is unfounded.

Room Tip: Elevators are at each end and it is quite a hike to rooms on the middle for peope with mobility issu...

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night and never saw anyone on our floor let alone heard them, as other reviewers have complained about. But we were there on a non-game weekend. We didn't use any services at the hotel but check-in personnel were very friendly and helpful.

Room was a bit drab, with outdated decorations but bed linens were decent and there was plenty of breathing space in our king room. We had a "river view" room on the 5th floor but that's not really high enough to see much. Parking is free, unlike many of the downtown hotels. The free trolley service to downtown runs Mon-Sat and picks up in front of the hotel every ten minutes or so. A walk into town takes 10-15 min. There's nothing fancy about this hotel but it suited our needs just fine for a weekend stay in Knoxville.

Room Tip: Highest floors on the river side will have better views of the river. Fifth floor wasn't that s...

We like to extend our Smokies MT Timeshare week aith an overnight at Marriott Knoxville.
Our preference is always a full service Marriott, and we tell the CTS OnStar the address and in a few moments are checking into this property.

Our experiences have always been delightful with conceirge upgrades, and excellent river views.
The Marriott Knoxville avoids the obnoxious city center parking fee, and this is a plus.

This is not the typical city hotel; the architecture of the exterior and interior are interesting to us, but perhaps not to all. It might be a good idea to visit the website_https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/tysmc-knoxville-marriott/

We are certain to reserve at off-events time, and this precaution provides for a more civil experience. Professional check-in, and no problems. We like the quiet location and ease of access to and from I-40.
