Traveling in two couples, both husbands architects, we needed a hotel in Knoxville for the night and I found it on my smartphone. It was noon and we needed a hotel for the night and this hotel was very accommodating and lovely to take us in. We had King rooms that were just beautifully decorated and fully equipped for our needs, including the important makeup mirror in the bathroom. This hotel was designed by some famous hotel architect (as mentioned by one of our husbands) and the lobby is just amazing to see - great design of probably the 1970's. Reminded me of a Hyatt we have here in Houston built in the 1970's with those elevators you can see go all the way up and down from the lobby (and see inside). Lobby furniture fits the time in which it was built (in good, clean condition) with a few benches that look like they don't belong (look Egyptian) and hanging backet plants that were artificial. Hotel VERY clean on the inside; outside needs pressure washing but that would probably cost a fortune - but really needed. If you arrive at night you wouldn't see it. Overall the stay was just great - hubby was member of Mariott Club and they have a wonderful Concierge Lounge where you get free cocktails/snacks evening and breakfast in the morning. Service there was wonderful as well. Lobby has a very nice Hair Salon (didn't use), open bar and restaurant that looked very appealing. Just a neat place that we would again stay. It is great to see that architecture still there!!!! Not far from downtown and there is a neat streetcar-like bus you can catch outside where you can buy a ticket and get off an on all day and it goes by historical places. The Beds were the most comfortable our entire trip from Nashville to Knoxville to Asheville NC to Gatlinburg.

Room Tip: Elevators at ends of long hallways, not in middle so about a long block to an elevator if there are any walking issues.

We stayed at the Marriott Knoxville during the course of a conference in the City of Knoxville. I have to say that the reception and staff were well prepared for the onslaught of our group arriving en masse. Despite hundreds of people coming and going continuously over the week, the hotel staff were well prepared and went out of their way to make the experience timely, well done and with a touch of class.

The staff were well trained and helpful. Food and rooms were what we have learned to expect from Marriott i.e. excellent value for the cost. The staff were particularly gracious and accommodating and willing to take whatever steps they needed to in order to make the visit pleasant.

This hotel lacks the respect to control their guests during a game weekend. The noise and party (complete with people throwing up in the hall) was too much for the price you pay for the hotel. After speaking with the manager twice, my complaints fell on deaf ears. If you want a loud, unkept, disrespectful, and lousy nights sleep, then this is the place for you.

Our family stayed at the Marriott for the Tennessee/Montana football game. There are some poor reviews for this location, but I personally saw no reason to give a poor review. Check-in was easy. Parking is convenient and free. Rooms were slightly small, but the beds were comfortable and overall the rooms were comfortable enough. This is an older hotel, but it is a Marriott, so the decor in the lobby and rooms is good. Only real complaint was you have to pay for internet and the televisions are out-dated. There is a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby. They serve a buffet after the game, which is convenient. This location is about a 1 mile walk to Neyland Stadium. You can walk down the Riverwalk to the stadium and Ruth's Chris and Calhoun's are along the way. We will stay here again for future games. Go Vols!

We were skeptical upon reading some earlier posts about bedbugs, dirty rooms and unsatisfactory service; however as we were booked for the opening game of UT's football season and we had a great deal.

We found no evidence of any of the problems mentioned. Our room was ver clean, the beds bug-free and very comfortable. The shower had great pressure and aside from some wear and tear on the furniture (it is a little dated) and some road noise, which was only noticed before our heads hit the pillows, it was great..

The service was very good and very cordial.
