“hidden gem on Gay street”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

We ended up here totally by mistake however what a find. We were taking out a group of our sons college friends and needed a table for 10. Unfortunately there was a lot going on this weekend and we were unable to obtain reservations or a restaurant willing to accommodate our group. We walked in to Sapphire and they said "sure" we can handle this. What a find! Amazing service, friendly, and the food! The ultimate in pub grub from a tiny kitchen. We ordered nachos, sliders and mac and cheese for appetizers that were all delicious. For the entree most ordered cheeseburgers or the BLT with melted cheese. Everything was made to perfection. The bar has over 40 different vodkas and our cocktails were excellent. The wine list wasn't extensive but had a good variety. All in all we will return here again and again!

“Terrible experience and expensive one”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

We went to the restaurant, got seated at 6:40 pm, the restaurant was busy some people there, the waitress ask for the drinks and by the time we brought them we order the food. Never see the waitress again, we have tickets for the Nutcracker at 8 pm, the food arrived at 7:40, almost and hour to get it....waiting, and then hurry up to eat in 5 minutes because we have to get to the theater, the food was horrible, my hamburger was under cooked and his macaronis were kind it dry probably Velveeta is better than this. Never will be back. Try to contact the restaurant never got an answer.

“Slack jawed...no high end here”
Reviewed December 23, 2013 via mobile

We went in for a night cap with guests from Atlanta and were taken aback by the servers poor attitude from the get go. She walked away in mid conversation of our order...hello?! Then it took 10 minutes to get our drinks and it was NOT busy. My friend tried the "craft cocktail-Sassy A## and it was horrible-we all took a sip and agreed. It tasted like a "Band Aid". We asked the server to take it away that it was not consumable. She took it, poured it out, and brought back a draft beer in its place. We chatted and finished our drinks. The check was requested and reviewed and to our surprise the server had charged us for the "band aid" drink AND the draft. She said it was a "company policy" that we had to pay for both. It was crazy!! Never had I nor my friends been to a restaurant/bar and paid for something that was sent back and NOT consumed. The manager, Greg, was no help and seemed frightened by the nasty server. He offered to buy my friend "a beer next time". Seriously??...Honey, there will be no next time.We paid our tab and left. Never will we go back to Sapphire nor will we recommend it as we have in the past. Life is too short to put up with poor service and bad drinks. Spend your money elsewhere.

Sapphire is one of Downtown Knoxville's treasures! The interior is very elegant, furniture comfortable, drinks well made, food delicious and the service is the best in this city. You will not be disappointed!

“Better bar than restaurant ”
Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

Our dinner group met at Sapphire for November. We have all been here on other occasions, separately for most part. As a bar while munching on small plates it's pretty good. As a restaurant with a group not so much. We had reservations so they knew a group of 10 would be there. The tables were not completely ready for 30 minutes after we arrived. Our server was incredibly slow. Once fully seated it took 2 hours to order and have our food served.
The food was not warm in fact one plate of fish tacos was cold. The portions in comparison to price are OK. We all have had independent experiences however if with a group I suggest you go elsewhere.
