“Nice Hotel - misleading booking information”
Reviewed March 1, 2011

We were just stopping through for one night at the Four Points so my review is based on the 12 hours or so we were in Knoxville.

The check-in was quick and easy. We were upgraded to a suite with a view of the World's Fair Tower.

The room was large, clean and well maintained. The balcony looking out onto the Tower was a nice touch. Wish we could've spent a few more days here to enjoy the city a little more.

Parking is $8 with in/out privilages.

One of the only annoyances was that all the charges to the room aren't reflected on the initial booking on spg.com (as they are for all other hotels). They aren't really a surprise (State Tax of about 9.25%, City Tax of 3% and Tourism Charge of 5%) but when all other starwood hotels list these on their Total charge at the time of booking it is a bit misleading as you're not really expecting them.

The hotel is in a great location if you're visiting UT, it's literally part of the campus, just blocks from the main UT areas of interest and easy walking distance to the football stadium and basketball arena. It's not a bad walk from downtown if the weather is nice. The staff was friendly and efficient, the hotel itself very clean and new, the rooms surprisingly big (I had a corner room which was probably a little bigger than average), the wi-fi free fast and reliable and an incredibly comfortable bed with firm mattress. The parking situation was a bit of an annoyance as I thought it was a bit overpriced but the garage itself is located below the hotel so at least it's convenient.

The location is ideal for those with business downtown or at the University.

Check-in was painless, and the room was clean and well-equipped, with many extra towels, pillows etc. There is a large desk (though most of it was taken up with the ice bucket, literature holder, etc) and a roll-out work table. The bed was comfortable.

The in-room coffee was unusually good (real ground coffee which was fresh, rather than the stale packets usually provided).

Some negatives:

The air conditioner controls have been removed and sign "this unit controlled from a remote location". It was annoyingly loud and cycled all night, waking me up. I was unable to shut it off.

The restaurant is exceptionally slow. Allow at least one full hour to have breakfast! The food was ok, but quite expensive.

The Wifi was unreliable and very very slow. This seems unacceptable in a hotel of this class. I had to use my cellular 3G modem for a data connection.

We stayed at the 4 points on August 20th. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. The only negative coment would be the extremely small counter space around the sink. The location near the UT Campus and the ability to walk 2 blocks to go up in the Sunsphere from the '82 Worlds Fair was neat. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. We would recommend this hotel very highly.

In Knoxville for business I decided to try this property. The hotel staff is courteous and considerate with a attitude like they actually care for you, which is refreshing to find.

The room was a good size, adequate desk and room furnishings. The TV's are older, non-flat screen and a smaller dimension. Free parking.

The bedding is a step up from what you would find in a Four Points with exception of the bed spread. They use a bed spread/comforter which obviously is not laundered after each guest checks out. The bed spreads look old & dingy compared to the rest of the room and using a comforter type bed spread is just nasty to me in a hotel.

The Wifi is free, but extremely slow. During my stay the hotel was not that busy and the Wifi crawled, unacceptable at a business hotel.

If your in town for a weekend football game, you'll love the Four Points however i have to give it only 3 stars for the extremely slow Wifi and nasty bed spread comforters.

My husband and I stayed at the Four Points for one night during our drive down to Florida (from Toronto). We are loyal Starwood customers and this is the first time that we have stayed in a Four Points hotel. I am happy to say that we were both extremely happy with our stay.

Unfortunately the night that we arrived at the hotel there was a terrible thunderstorm that lasted for most of the night so we were unable to enjoy the nearby attractions. From our drive in to the hotel the immediate neighbourhood looked beautiful and we were disappointed that we were unable to walk around and experience it.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly girl who checked us in right away and also waived the parking fee for our one night stay. There was plenty of underground parking which was nice. Due to the horrible thunderstorm, the elevators were not working so we were forced to take the stairs to the 6th floor. We didn't mind the walk but there were quite a few upset guests (not that the hotel could really do anything about the weather).

We ended up eating at the restaurant in the lobby as we were both starving and didn't want to head back out in the storm. The food was quite good and surprisingly was not overpriced like most hotel restaurants.

The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfy. The bathroom was also very clean and quite spacious compared to some other hotels I have stayed in.

Overall, we had an excellent experience at the Four Points and would definitely recommend it to others.

I come to Knoxville once a quarter and stayed at this location for the first time recently. I was impressed with the Location and the rooms. To a quick jog to the statdium and I never had to cross a major road.
