“Love, Love, Loved It!! Fast Service, Delicious Food, Great Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2012

This was the first time I had been to this restaurant and I was sufficiently impressed. Our server was fantastic, one of the best we have had. He had a knack for anticipating one's needs without being overbearing. Polite, professional, and fully knowledgable about the menu.

The atmosphere was clean and well cared for (though it looked fairly new). All of the food we ordered was the freshest and most flavorful we have had in a long time. The biscuits were light, hot and tasty. The chicken tenders were seasoned just right and fabulous. Our dining experience was so wonderful we went with friends to the Calhouns by the river the next day.

While the service was almost as good, the food was not impressive. Not sure why since the volume was nearly identical but the biscuits were not nearly as fresh tasting and our server took great pains to get us one fresh from the oven. Other items were good, even very good but just not as superb as the Turkey Cove location.

Either way, Calhoun's is a great restaurant overall and I can't wait to go back!

“Ribs and Pulled Pork”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

Calhoun's is a Knoxville and Pigeon Forge institution.
Regional cuisine at its best.
We like the ambience.
Service is great.

For some reason we have visited both locations at "off" hours, so the
restaurants have been relatively quiet. We like Calhoun's.

A good meal, good service and relatively inexpensive.

“great ribs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

I took out my extended family (grand kids, children and in-laws) to enjoy this family friendly atmosphere. I had the ribs as did many others in our group. My daughter had a salad and the pulled pork sandwich, and the little ones chicken fingers/sandwich. I also had one of the their local crafted beers. The service was excellent, the noise not too bad, with lots of room in their generous space.
All in all, a fine experience on a rainy evening, at a reasonable price.

“BBQ restaurant without a good BBQ sauce!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012 via mobile

The BBQ sauce was almost decent. I enjoyed it more on my ribs then from the bottle. My girlfriend ordered the pulled pork and had to use the bottle & she wouldn't eat anything she pored the BBQ sauce on. Everything else tasted great; the beans were surprisingly amazing, cole slaw was thick and ribs slid off the bone. However for a BBQ restaurant it's a bad sign when your waiter has premade suggestions on how to improve the sauce. Order anything without BBQ sauce.
