The food here is flat out excellent, and the environment has a refreshing small, local family business feel. The first thing I look for whenever I move to a new city is a good Thai restaurant, and to me, this is the best in Knoxville. Yes, they might hesitate on making the dish truly spicy the first time you visit, but if you like your Thai hot really hot, just say so, and you'll get it. They don't oversweeten, and they balance spice blends and savory beautifully. You can also get a nice glass of Thai tea or a Thai beer to go with your meal. They have a wide variety of dishes includings several curry pots, noodle combinations, and meat based dishes. For the vegetarians out there, tofu/veggies are an option in most dishes. My personal favorites are the drunken noodle, red curry, and panang curry. Service is always impressively rapid despite that it can be quite busy. If you're looking for Americanized Thai food, or prefer the chain restaurant atmosphere, this isn't the place for you. (It sounds like that is the crux of most of the negative reviews.) If you are looking authentic Thai food at good prices, check this place out.

And if anyone from Taste of Thai reads these reviews: maybe a branch in the Market Square district?

I do not like here.
they seem to use same sauce to all foods..
and their service is really not good.
I went to there 4 or 5 times and ordered different food.
but same taste from different food.. haha

and one day we ordered one beer, but they forgot to bring to us.. and we complain... but they did not say 'sorry' .. just bring after complain.. that's it.

only I like one thing there... fried tofu for appetizer....

One of the frequent problems I find at restaurants serving "Thai" cuisine is that so many of them seem to be trying to sweeten food that doesn't require it, resulting in a sort of "plain macaroni" taste. This establishment abandons that idea and serves their dishes in shades of bitter, which is a welcome break. Most of the entrees use notably fresher and better-quality ingredients than their competitors, and the service is almost always attentive to detail - I haven't had an order come out wrong yet. Their burgeoning popularity has not diminished the food quality. There are competitors in the Knoxville area that provide a more cushy dining experience (it's plain old table-and-chairs at Taste of Thai), and some that have a more diverse menu (Thai along with Chinese, sushi, etc), but for core food quality this location probably has them all beat.

Authentic Thai food at a very reasonable price. I have never eaten anything here that i didnt like. The service is prompt and professional. If you like Thai food this is the best place in knoxville to get it. I HIGHLY recommend it.
