The food here is flat out excellent, and the environment has a refreshing small, local family business feel. The first thing I look for whenever I move to a new city is a good Thai restaurant, and to me, this is the best in Knoxville. Yes, they might hesitate on making the dish truly spicy the first time you visit, but if you like your Thai hot really hot, just say so, and you'll get it. They don't oversweeten, and they balance spice blends and savory beautifully. You can also get a nice glass of Thai tea or a Thai beer to go with your meal. They have a wide variety of dishes includings several curry pots, noodle combinations, and meat based dishes. For the vegetarians out there, tofu/veggies are an option in most dishes. My personal favorites are the drunken noodle, red curry, and panang curry. Service is always impressively rapid despite that it can be quite busy. If you're looking for Americanized Thai food, or prefer the chain restaurant atmosphere, this isn't the place for you. (It sounds like that is the crux of most of the negative reviews.) If you are looking authentic Thai food at good prices, check this place out.
And if anyone from Taste of Thai reads these reviews: maybe a branch in the Market Square district?
