This museum is a refreshing approach to art. It has the traditional galleries with the beautiful Catherine Wiley pieces, that should not be missed, and the experimental art galleries that allow non conventional artists to show their works and the thought process behind them. The gallery also has wonderful lunch and learn sessions that are free, and Live After Five events on Friday nights with music from swing to rock depending on the night. The museum also has free family events with all kinds of activities for children. While KMA may not be your big city, highly funded and endowed museum, it is on its way to being so and is definitely worth a visit.

This is a nice city art museum still building its collection. However, the East TN art contains some nice pieces, especially Catherine Wiley's Impressionist-influenced pieces from the early 1900s. The museum's new acquisition of a woman and child in a meadow rival Renoir for the play of light on the figures. Admission was free the day I was there, a Friday.

Parking is extremely limited. One gallery was closed. Another gallery contained a travelling exhibit of AP photos of nuclear explosions, not my idea of art. The permanent collection consisted of about a dozen items of questionable quality.

I'm all about nudity for the sake of art but this museum had huge plastic genitals.
I wouldn't take small children there.

I attended a work party here and it was wonderful. The art was fabulous (at that time there was a Warhol display being featured) and the dinner and drinks were also awesome (not sure who catered it). It would be an awesome venue for a wedding or party.
